To everyone thinking that Cole will magically forgive Barb for her transgressions: please, shut the fuck up. If the circumstances were such that Cole had to be responsible for Barb in some capacity now, then the most that Cole would do is foot the bill for a nursing home whenever Barb becomes financially insolvent. They can but it's more like 'Well they will spend the rest of their life in a facility..or in a group home'.

At least where I am, there are these situations. Which is how alot of the group homes in my locale have clients. The state stepped in before they became a career mental health facility patient.

In some places in the west at least if they didn't beforehand make the arrangement that Cole would be the one to make legal decisions on her behalf, then he wouldn't be able to have a say in it even but it would be an appointed government dude. as it includes stuff like power over her assets and what have you - so someone can't just move her assets to their name. The lesson here is that if you or some relative of you is having alzheimers or anything similar with lack of cognitive functionality included in near future you have to make the arrangements with them before it goes too bad, it's much simpler to grant the permissions and such when they're still a person that has their own free will as viewed by the law.

I don't think Cole gives a fuck though. Maybe if he knew of some gold treasure under the house. If Cole would do that he'd have succumbed to pity for the hag long ago plus currently barb seems to qualify as having free will anyway and it's not like they live in some 3rd world country where she would be in an actual gutter.

Not to reveal my power level too much, but I empathise with Cole in his attitude towards his mother. When a part of your life is disturbed by a particular figure, moving on means releasing yourself from them entirely, even if this means making decisions considered cold by people who, let's face it, aren't in the same position in life.

Given that Cole has a website his friends and family are likely to be interested in, and that many people just Google search every website every time they visit it (instead of entering a URL), it seems vanishingly unlikely that not one of them has noticed and told the rest of them.

Barb had a chance for a meaningful relationship with Cole, but blew it through years of lying and awful behavior. Cole's a massive tool, but I can't fault him for not jumping to help someone who likely wouldn't even want the help.

How do we know he knows??? He has never confirmed that he knows so it leaves that question in the back of peoples mind with this uncertainty that maybe he is unaware. If only someone was able to speak with him on this directly such as if he made a account on this forum and made a post. I can understand why it may seem too much to ask Cole to have Barb move into his home. But I still wonder. Why can’t Cole have Barb move into his home? I have read online tons of families in other countries and sometimes the USA they have the elderly parents live with them during their final years before they die instead of a nursing home so I was wondering if Barb could move to New York with Cole and move in with Cole? And with Coles wife. After the first big hurdle and big step of convincing Cole of this the next step would be then to also get the wife on board. Good luck right? Hahaha. This would probably be a hard sell. I understand that. But still. I haven’t thought too much in depth about this but it appears the laws in the USA say that Cole has no legal responsibility to have To help Barb with her living accommodations when she loses the house to the bank. And even if the trolls haven't, it is Chris-Chan. I know cow and internet culture is still a niche community, but his name was literally trending on Twitter for days back during the incident. His crime ended up being covered by Tucker Carlson and a whole bunch of other conservative journalists.

Anyone who was on social media that weekend probably at the very least has heard of Chris Chan. Whether or not Cole and his wife's friends have down a deep dive into the lore is another story.

I can sympathise not wanting to help someone who has been nothing but a pain your life, I really can. I can sympathise but it doesn't make it right.

Wishing, or worse yet actively doing something to leave someone in the cold like that, tempting as it is, is just asking for bad karma. They might deserve it even. But if you give them what they deserve, what would you deserve? You never know what might happen leaving you in a reverse situation. Distance yourself from a terrible person, by all means. But do at least something to keep them out of harm's way. If nothing else, it'll make you the better man

Cole hasn't been absolutely specific in what she did, however from the list of complaints hes offered in the past as the conditionals for him interacting with them ever again we can make some assumptions.

Cole didn't like bob, and says that bob was a monster to him. He left his home earlier than he probably would have because of his constant conflict with bob. In a way, siding with bob over your own son could certainly be perceived as abandoning them. Especially by that son.

He has said several times, that barb and bob didn't love him at all, and only cared about chris. This could be consistent with parentification, the abuse where parents offload their parental duties for a more high maintenance child onto their elder siblings, usually at an extremely inappropriate age.

This is all stupid and gay speculation, but considering what we know about barb and bob, it wouldn't be particularly surprising to me if this was correct in some capacity. However, regardless of if this is the case or not, we know that Cole FEELS this was the case, based on what he has said, that barb didn't love him and allowed bob to throw him out of his home. So even if it's not true, if Cole feels that way, I don't see why he'd help Barb. Especially since Barb and Chris have spent nearly a decade begging him only for money in the most hilariously ineffectual guilt tripping i've ever seen.
