Georgia 'LYNCHING' citizen fatally shoots unarmed black man ... Video Emerges, Grand Jury to Convene

The fatal shooting of Ahmaud Arbery -- a 25-year-old black man out for a jog when he was chased and killed -- was caught on video, prompting a call for a grand jury to review the case.

Arbery's death is being referred to as a modern-day lynching, as he was unarmed when he was gunned down in Brunswick, GA on February 23 by a white citizen named Travis McMichael ... who has not been arrested or charged. He also happens to be the son of a former district attorney investigator.

As you can see in the video, Arbery was jogging when he was stopped by McMichael and his father in a white pickup truck. McMichael was armed with a shotgun. Arbery appears to attempt to run around the truck before he and McMichael start grappling.

After at least 2 shots, the men continued struggling over the gun ... until Arbery stumbles away, shot in the mid-section, and then collapses to the ground. He was later pronounced dead.

McMichael has not been charged in the shooting ... reportedly because he and his father, who was in the back of the truck, claim they were trying to make a citizen's arrest. They claim Ahmaud fit the description of a suspect in a string of recent break-ins in the area.

After the emergence of the video, D.A. Pro Tempore Tom Durden has decided the case "should be presented to the grand jury of Glynn County for consideration of criminal charges against those involved in the death of Mr. Arbery.”

Ahmaud's family says the use of deadly force was unnecessary.

Here's the statement from the district attorney who was brought in to oversee the case and decide how and whether the case should be prosecuted.

Attorney Lee Merritt, who represents Arberys mother, claims "The series of events captured in this video confirm what all the evidence indicated prior to its release— Ahmaud Arbery was pursued by three white men that targeted him solely because of his race and murdered him..."

Ahmaud Arbery is a criminal scumbag and career thief who fucked around with the wrong neighborhood.

That being said, did the McMicheals have the legal force to detain him? Ehhhh, dubious at best. Just because someone is a known criminal POS doesn't mean that they themselves inherently have a legal obligation to submit to a citizen's arrest if they feel their life is in danger.

This is an actually interesting case about where one party's rights end and another's begins, but of course everything in America turns fucking racial thanks to the media.

It is. Even a piece of shit and a moron has rights. You do not have the right as a random citizen to infringe on the rights of others outside of very specific circumstances. These rights include freedom of movement and life and limb. I feel the worst for Roddie. He’s honestly likely to win an appeal on basis of incompetent defense - his lawyer was absolutely fucking terrible, and the guy is apparently a high school drop out. The jury rightly found that he wasn’t directly responsible for the act, but as he was involved in the actions leading up to this. He wasn’t directly responsible for any of this but because he’s involved in the other felonies he’s going to be brought in on this. He recorded the incident. I hope the judge keeps this in mind for his sentencing.

EDIT: Its also very possible that his lawyer torpedoed a plea deal without his consent, from some reports.

Damn, eight guilty counts for all three of time with life in prison.

In an ideal world, you'd think if your neighborhood is being robbed regularly, shooting an actual wannabe thief would send a message that they're not tolerating it anymore.

Still, this verdict won't stop the entitled stigma that "Black people are hunted daily by White people and walk free."

So, yeah. I don't care about Arbery or three rednecks.

Guilty on felony murder for Greg. Travis got all nine. Not a surprise. The false imprisonment is what kicks this up to felony murder.
False imprisonment stuck? I was of the understanding that false imprisonment requires a much higher bar than what they did, like literally offering no means of escape.
