It's also because black women know that the gov'ment will hand out free money, so they don't even pretend to want their baby daddies in their lives. Black women constantly talk about how their baby daddies ain't shit, and if you can somehow manage to talk to a black woman long enough to get the actual story, usually he's just an average guy and she thinks she's DESERVES better. I swear to God every single black woman gives the "I was young" excuse when they ask why they didn't marry their baby daddy. You got all these 4/10 or 5/10 thinking they are 9s and 10s that have a useless degree and make $35K at some job that wlll not give the time of day to a manual laborer that makes more money than them because the women are the ones that think they are "settling."

If it continued like that for a few decades longer, the African communities were well on their way to finding their niche in this country and actually integrating. But then the Steel Belt became the Rust Belt and all those jobs dried up and those communities were destroyed.

This continues to amuse me greatly, because its the same mistake the left makes when reviewing anything historical - just made in a different direction this time.
Normally they evaluate every ounce of the past with perfect 2020 vision and the morality of the modern age. But they're also prone to just projecting todays morals and standards out to the future indefinitely. They assume that the Black community will be permanently damaged from the racism of the past into the future forever, never to recover. They assume that the economic models of the boom period of the post WW2 world will just try and perpetuate into eternity, and expect that growth for themselves while also lambasting the idea of infinite growth. They assume that the threats of the past will perpetually be the threats of the future, and that nothing will change.
And they assume that the important life paths and institutions of the past will be as important perpetually into the future. This is why Feminists assume that they can go all woke stronk and powerful independent, then also settle down with a guy cuz thats how it worked 20 years ago - but not today. They assume that everyone will have to go through college to get anywhere, but the internet has already started to seriously deconstruct the value of higher education as information becomes more and more free. They assumed that journalistic institutions would control the narrative and what people know forever, and are struggling in a world where freedom of speech is more widely available than ever. This failure to process structural change even explains why they think they can just throw the communism switch and everything just gets 'better' and that nothing actually alters in their world, just more good things for less work.
It honesty is fascinating to me how this group that demands the most radical change cannot themselves conceive of significant structural change.

We're already starting to see the "men opt out of college; women most affected" memes.
It's hilarious watching women with useless communications degrees say they "deserve better" than a plumber making $75K/year. "He's not intellectually on my level."
Women are now 60% of the college enrollments, so of course that is bad because the 40% of men now "get to be choosy" about who they date. And let's be real, women aren't going for all of those guys, they are going for the best of the best. If you are a slightly above average guy in every way: 5'11, $70K/year office job, decent looking face but not handsome, not overweight but not ripped - then women WILL NOT DATE you. At least until they hit the wall and it's time to "settle down".
So yeah, every woman is chasing the same Top 1% of men, so those men are not settling down because they don't have to, then the women complain that all men are dogs and that the women "shouldn't have to settle" when they refuse to look at the other 80% of men. And those 80% of men are noticing: a recent survey showed 81% of men are less interested in sex than pre-COVID. The "bottom 80%" of men are just opting out of dating entirely, and women are getting mad that their security blankets are going away.
TL;DR - I'm not incel I promise. Women are going to college more and then mad that there are less top men to go around because they won't even date above average guys.

Even where they weren't on the shop floor, they were staffing all the supporting business and industries which pop up around such heavy industry, they drove the cabs, they worked the cafes, they massively influenced the cultural output. MoTown Records started there for a reason, there was a huge untapped vein of talented musicians and they applied the lessons learnt from the auto shop floor to the music industry.
This happens all over, where in the UK the northern workers were the subject of endless misery porn films (funded by the taxpayer until the 2010s) and snide remarks by their "betters" about their still held out love for their country and wanting anything, something to get better. The 2016 Brexit vote, and then the subsequent realignment of the voters are two such sisemic shifts which have happened and resulted in a ridiculous caucasus within the Tories largely lead by the Mayor of Teeside Ben Houchen who endlessly calls Downing Street to demand more jobs and more investment for his Tees Valley homeland.
Considering the thousands of manufacturing jobs he bagged from wind turbine production, and the thousands more decent quality jobs likely to come with the opening of the Tees Valley Freeport (Which, by size, will be the largest in the UK for the forseeable future...) they're doing damn well.
