Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

So, what are all the American's doing for thanksgiving in here? Let us consider some happier thoughts for a bit, it's good for the soul.

Gonna be visiting my Granny tomorrow and spending the weekend for Thanksgiving with her and my uncle. It'll be the first Thanksgiving since my Papaw died late last month.

The wife and I both live too far from the parents to be able to visit, but we called a couple of friends over and they brought their kids. The house is real lively today. Two small fights already broke out over some kid or another hogging the Xbox but five minutes later the offending parties were in good terms and playing together again. Made a run for some more beer and soda and a few last supplies for dinner, so this should be a fun thanksgiving.

Don't let the world take these things away from you, everybody. Happy thanksgiving!

Living in a only moderately cucked big city probably strongly uncucked by the state, I'm going to the same big family Thanksgiving I did last year.

Honestly, if it wasn't for my terminally CNN-brained bosses at work, I'd never think of COVID outside of the Internet. Gas and supply are less effected than I see in other parts of the country. It's nice living in a big red state.

Traveled to my brother's, gonna be eating with my family and his in-laws. Just shitposting on the farms and watching Elf while waiting for the food to finish cooking, then the phone gets put away. I'm not so terminally online that I'd have my phone out during family time.

Happy Thanksgiving to all you crazy fucks. You make this clusterfuck of a "presidency" bearable.

Should setup something my religious community does. We donate leftover turkey and other foods that can reheat or be reused well to a local shelter. Letting the homeless have a taste of homecooked food around the holidays.
I'm surprised that's legal. Usually things like that aren't allowed for "food safety concerns."

This...This can't be real. The cringe is bad enough but that first tweet, on an official WH account? This...This can't be real...
Oval Pawffice has never been official. It's just some loony wackjob role-playing as Joe's dogs...well, dog singular now. They actually got taken down for a bit because they were reported as impersonating a government account, but that unfortunately didn't last.

I'm thousands of miles away from them. I have the day off of work, and while there isn't much to do here, I'm happy talking to them and knowing that they're having a wonderful day! There's no better cure to loneliness than knowing that the ones you love are doing well.

The owner needs neutering and then putting down for that first tweet.

This one (of 1000 things) isn't on Biden, at least directly. It's on New York State itself: basically all the employees are still under mask mandates.

I live in upstate, and it's jarring here because all of the employees have to wear masks, but almost none of the customers save a few are wearing masks any more.

I only caught a couple 5-second glimpses of the parade, but from what I saw everyone IN the parade had a mask and damn near nobody in the crowd had one on.
Biden called Al Roker. Sounded like he was on borrowed time for that thirty second phone call.

Went to a cousin's. Watching Bears lose to the Lions. Everyone mostly ignoring mask mandates. (Three people are wearing masks.)

There's nowhere to run. If America falls, or gets so involved in internal upheavals that they stop being the preeminent power in the world, everyone will suffer. All of those ethnic hatreds that the fear of American action keeps to a low boil? Pogroms everywhere. Countries with unsatisfied territorial ambitions? The armies will march, the planes will fly, the missiles will launch, hopefully non-nuclear. Countries that rely on US foreign aid, either cash or loans or even food aid? They're fucked, economic and societal collapse is always just around the corner for a lot of very fucked up countries that we support. Countries that import food from America? Say goodbye to that, with all the results that you would expect. World trade without the US Navy guaranteeing free sea access? It will be reduced to a fraction of what it is now. Countries that have massive social spending to keep their population satisfied because Big Daddy US Gov takes care of protecting them, instead of spending that welfare state money on their own militaries? Systems will crash and social services will be greatly curtailed in favor of rapid remilitarization.

I could go on for hours about this, but TLDR: If America stops projecting economic and military force because they are involved in a long crisis, it will negatively affect every country on earth. Either through primary effects or through secondary or tertiary follow-on effects. An American collapse would lead to the collapse of many other countries, especially those that are only marginally real countries and are always on the verge of collapse at the best of times.

Happy Thanksgiving, kiwis! Fight for what you believe in and strive for the future that you want to see.
I disagree. That stuff is natural and America's existence has held back the natural course of humanity for over a century. Countries rise and fall and for society to advance that balance needs to be maintained. Maybe the reason Africa is a shit hole is because it's being kept on the edge of collapse by foreign aid. That is not sustainable and when it does collapse all that foreign aid isn't going to matter. America is just prolonging the inevitable. Social services being curtailed would drastically incentivise people to think creatively and critically to simply survive again. Ethnic hatreds would encourage people to think tribally, and thusly the world would become decentralized. Nations would exist with unique identities and ideals again.

It would be a hard, frightening, and miserable existence for a long time but with the potential for something better. A decent and good future is much greater in this world than any future where America exists (or at least any world where America is strong-arming the globe like the globohomo faggots we are). Ideas and culture, the foundation of societies, would be at the forefront again. Technology and innovation would need some time catch up to the pre-collapse era, but eventually it would and it would do so at a greatly accelerated rate.

I know I would probably die long before this better future comes to pass, but I would feel way more optimistic about the world my descendants would inhabit than the world that exists now; a world where I'm currently not sure if the basic freedoms I have today will even be a memory in the minds of my grand children. Globalism is the absolute worst fate for humanity. In a decentralized world you can run and hide from the forces that would oppress you. In a globalized world there is literally no where you can run or hide and fighting this world is next to impossible.

Sounds almost as if what you think we need is a...New Dark Age. I'm going to recommend you watch this video from the timestamp onward for a breakdown of why that sort of mentality would be a bad idea.

To summarize, the more tribal and insular people are, the more the baser instincts of "protect the tribe, shun/kill the outsider" come to the forefront. Any strong nation can be a force for good in the world, if lead and supported by the right people.

That type of nation is impossible. Human nature all but prevents such a nation from ever being lead by the "right people". Furthermore, you can never get rid of tribalism entirely. You'd think after fifty years of trying to create a "color blind society" that we'd be past this but no. Things have only gotten worse and worse over the years. The difference is you have big brother destroying your freedoms so that tribal conflict (righteous or otherwise) can't happen. It causes resentment and hatred of a different kind which is just as toxic if not more so; see the current Black community.

Your ideal world is unobtainable. Trying to enforce your ideals to change the world is just going to make it worse. Striving to create a unified society will never work and that "dark age" you fear will come whether you like it or not. Embrace it so you can allow new ideas to flourish or punish and hurt the prospects of your descendants.

Imagine it like this: the world is a fish bowl. It is filled with many different fish. One of the fish is bigger than all the others and takes care of all the little fishes by feeding them it's scraps. One day the big Fish will die and all the little fish will lose their security. They might fight with each other, but all the food that the big fish used to eat will be available to all those little fish now. There is an opportunity there. All the little fish can eat and grow to equally big sizes or one can come out on top and become the new big fish. That last outcome is no worse than what we have now. The other outcome is even better because all the fish will be equals to one another and won't have to rely on each other for security.
