I worked on a Bollywood film being shot here in the states and I can tell you firsthand that Indians switch from Hindi to English to like it's nothing. The subcontinent has two lingua francae; the former is used as an everyday/administrative language and the latter is used between different language groups who don't speak Hindi as well as foreigners (obviously). Keep in mind that India has like 1,800 spoken languages but only two that are recognized on official terms.
Both of them, especially when raised here, have an inferiority complex about not being "white". It's why the black women yell about Becky taking "their men" while she straightens out her hair and puts in colored eye contacts. It's why Maria can't speak a straight Spanish sentence but can definitely intersperse Spanish words in otherwise full English sentences. The more I read about Jack the more he sounds like a narcissistic freak who believes himself to be the new Da Vinci.
