I think the better point is that Communism failed to produce an Apple, or a Ford, or literally anything beyond the bare minimum of technology required for daily life and it wasn't like Russian intelgence was lacking, their aerospace industry was cutting edge but none of this translated into the consumer market place like we saw in the US.

I agree that medical schools should look for medical expertise from "theories and scholars outside of medicine" because there's too much of a focus on theories that work and are repeatable rather than theories that empower marginalized people with their own theories to equal status as doctors.
