XenForo has revoked our license

How old is Sammy again? I seem to remember his mother dying of extremely early onset dementia. Haven’t payed attention to him since Donny Long and the Autistic Legion of Doom.
He is 40+ now. His thread had all but died with the odd meme about him once a month, with a last post in July until today.
It's true. He does seem to always visit during December/January.
He's the Ghost of Christmas Autism.

i thought rust was for trannies

The trannies love to argue about terminology and such in the language -- they argue endlessly about how we have to avoid stuff like "kill child process". They don't fuck up the language itself from a CS perspective though. The advantage of Rust is that it has good enforcement of things like buffer bounding while still having good performance. If you're exposing code to the internet, it's a good idea.

Rust would probably be a lot harder to DDoS on a request basis, if written well, due to less CPU load and lower latency. They could still DDoS on bandwidth, though. I've wondered for a while if only announcing IPv6 subnets would help on that front, with IPv4 only clients being able to connect through Cloudflare.

That would lower the threat surface a bit, and it would prevent some kinds of low-effort reflection attacks, but IPv6 adoption is wide enough now that you'd still get hit by substantial botnets.

I have an old issue of COMPUTE! magazine that has BBS software in it. That'll totally work, right?

Oh god I know the exact software you're talking about.

Affero GPL so any re.tard using it cannot deny releasing the source and/or crediting the Feeder
Or in maximum FOSS-profit mode, Affero GPL for "free" users, proprietary for "Premium" user

From an end-user perspective Affero sucks if you have to do a quick patch to suit your environment. You have to expose your fork to the world but since it's not in the main branch you don't get the many-eyes security benefit -- instead the only eyes looking at it are threat actors.

Aw sheeit nigga, wish I was further along my Rust studies than I actually am.

As for
Are you telling me some tranny jannies who do it for free went on an ego trip only to realize nobody cares about them or values their "work"?

What a shock.
It might appear this way, but the mod team (actually consisting of highly active true and honest contributors) most likely resigned in response to this socjus grifter Ashley being given free reign: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=28515306

Its crazy when you consider its literally some spastic on bennies with no influence or sway over anyone or anything. He must be really good at writing scary sounding emails. I don't know when exactly, but at some point businesses lost the ability to say "fuck off dickhead" to these people, or I guess at the very least just ignore them. Are they all that paranoid of getting bad PR because of what some loon in the middle of nowhere in England says?

I have always found it odd that companies like XenForo would kowtow to individuals that do not contribute any monetary value to them. Let’s say that Null loves Frosted Flakes. Will enough emails to Kellogg’s make it so that Null’s permissions to buy and consume their products is revoked? Jokes on them, he has one of those absurdly large CostCo Mexican family sized boxes in the pantry. Seriously, no one knows about or cares what XenForo is. It’s not like the software is an …. As a Service, so, this really did fuck all except make it impossible to apply the already shitty XenForo updates pushes out (and they do not act quickly on egregious 0days).

Fuck this software, lol

There is a small but significant (and growing) section of the male population who have internalized their boogeymen to such a degree that they are frozen and frightened of engaging in any behavior that could maybe, at some point, make someone feel negative emotions in their direction. The classic example is cuckservatives shitting themselves if they get called 'racist', but it runs the whole gamut. I've seen these dudes get unironically scared of the following, despite it being perfectly ok, legal, and professionally acceptable for them to do:

  • Send Christmas cards with Jesus on them
  • Taking lunch 10 minutes early
  • Not asking for a raise for his employees
  • Cancelling a newspaper subscription because the editor badmouthed him in the opinion pages
  • Removing a homo from his church
  • Telling someone they won't engage in an illegal act
  • Tow the guy blocking his driveway
It's bizarre, there's no consequences, and I suspect that XenForo has at least one of these guys in their chain of command because cutting off a paying customer for, really, no reason is retarded. What are they afraid of, that someone will write an op-ed calling out some nobody company for engaging in legal business practices? (yes lmao)

So what I'm hearing here is that Nu-KF may not have stickers.
He said that he intends for the new framework to be XenForo-compatible, so I'm guessing not much will change from the average user's point of view in terms of features disappearing altogether, rather that those features might start working faster/slower.

It'd still be pretty fucking funny if he used it as an excuse to nuke shit like stickers and chat just for the absolute tsunami of neurotic piss that would unleash.
