Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

Overturning USSC cases is actually a huge issue because - in my opinion - it was never meant to happen. The entire logic of the Supreme Court is that these justices are almost perfect and they don't make mistakes when it comes to constitutional law. But then the Supreme Court got dragged into the slavery issue with Plessy vs Ferguson and it all went downhill from there. Politics destroyed the Court as an institution, and we've been dealing with it for over a century now.
"Stare Decis" - an ancient maxim meaning "let the decisions of the Warren Court stand."

Can't quote @Gehenna's post so a tag will do:

With regards to abortion being a flagship issue for Democrats, do you have any data on how many people a blow to the pro-choice position would actually energize? As @GuntPunt mentioned, pussy-hat woman with a post graduate degree are guaranteed to vote in most elections so them being energized doesn't really give the Dems any additional votes.

Are there any large demographics of passionate single-issue pro-abortion voters that don't already vote every election?

>"THOSE DAMN DIRTY TRUMPIAN ANTI-VAXXERS CAUSED THE OMICRON VARIANT TO BE LITERALLY THE WORST EVER"
>First US case of such appears in the bluest of blue states with the most stringent lockdown measures in the country

Just.....*chef's kiss*
To be fair. It was some guy from San Francisco who was traveling in South Africa.
He's reportedly fully vaccinated, did not need hospitalization, and is currently self isolating.

It's up in the air how many people he spread it to in transit though. Might be an interesting development.

The Face of Science (R) further showed what a weasel he is at a press conference today.

This past weekend I caught the remaining half of a Cary Grant
movie, which took place in early days of WWII. One of the characters, who is a Nazi collaborator, had this monologue that is frighteningly accurate in Western countries.
Okay Mr. Fauci, care to explain HOW that's a different issue?

Either way, it's still just a case of the flu, so who gives a shit?

College-age white women is the only somewhat consistent demographic. Every other demographic is basically just a small percentage, adding up to around twenty percent of the populace. Which matches up nicely to the amount of people who want abortion legal in all cases. Basically pure Democrats, and pure Core Democrats.

They'd be reliant on their old schtick of reframing it as "A woman's right to choose" to skirt around the idea of abortion, which is... alright as a motivator but only really works to energize an already high base rather than create new momentum.

The correct response for baby killers would be to tell their reps to fucking make it a law. Dems control both houses and the Executive. If they wanted to actually solve the issue in a way that the SC couldn't touch, they could right now.

A politician actually coming up with a permanent solution to a controversial issue? Perish the thought. Just think of the fundraisers, man!

Right - you can't fix anything because you can't campaign on it if it's fixed. Drives me up the wall. I wish I got rewarded for not doing my job in the same way those clowns do.

I'm sure that's one of the reasons the Democrats cling tooth-and-nail to to Roe v. Wade. It's a terrible ruling. Ruth Bader Ginsburg herself said so. It's extremely vague and open for challenges... which is precisely what the Democrats want because it guarantees it will keep being challenged, and with every challenge they can just bang the drum. A well-defined policy, particularly one that left it to the states so people would be able to fight over it in their state legislatures, would do everybody good. But we can't have that.
