Ironically that's kind of how vtubing started off. Kizuna Ai's old video game content were edited lets plays, not live streams (including the RE7 video with the faq u that became probably the best known vtuber moment in the west prior to the Hololive boom). Stuff shifted more towards livestreaming by mid-2018. Laplus doing an edited Valorant video like that is almost a bit of a throwback.

When people used to say an MMO would be a "WoW killer", they meant the majority of the playerbase would abandon WoW for the new game. So calling anyone or anything a "Gura killer" misses the point by a country mile -- even if Chloe got more popular than Gura (and that's a big hill to climb), it wouldn't actually take away much if any of Gura's popularity.

Or maybe they mean Chloe is a Gura killer because orcas eat sharks.

Regardless of that, Chloe is definitely a standout, she ticks so many boxes for appeal. Subjectively of course: Great design and rigging, huge potential as a singer, personality like Nene but a little more chill, just enough stream scuff to be endearing. And for us EOPs, she seems to be somewhat of a westaboo and wants to do unarchived EN singing. Can't speak to her English vocabulary but her pronunciation is fantastic.

nah i was in another tab but the most weird part of that stream is that she ended it abruptly without even putting a ending because she was too tired to activate it and the battery was dying, she was "im cutting it out you guys dont mind" boom dead

"Gura killer" is just a /vt/ shitpost. I wouldn't think too hard about it. Every time there's a new batch of vtubers they pick one to call the "Gura killer," pretend that they're gonna overtake Gura, and then flame in a week or so when it becomes clear that they haven't overtaken Gura in terms of raw sub count.

LOL! She's so silly. Naming her Pokemon "Gengar(blank)" and saying stuff like "step on me mommy" to a trainer. First time watching, don't regret subbing.

Yeah she seems like the perfect mix/ratio/combo of things - cute design and voice, but a bit lewd too, kusogaki energy, cute noises and reactions, some scuff/pon, good singer (including what is probably her deeper natural voice for that gap), and as you said enough EN content to keep us non-JP interested. As long as she stays popular we'll also keep an in-chat TL which is great for accessibility too. One of the gen I was least interested in pre-debut has turned out to exceed expectations!

I've seen these tubas before. I think this is a really great idea. Invest in people to have a basic level of Tuba experience. Then if they work out you pick them up on the next gen.

I mostly watched the Gen 6 debuts as background noise or with my eyes glued to the chat for live translations, but I watched some of their streams today and damn you weren't exaggerating about the rigging. It's even better than Botan's. It's a shame that Cover going back and improving rigging is so rare because Subaru and Watame's tracking could use some work.

Laplus is the clear standout for me, but who knows with debuts. The others might drop some character trait they're exaggerating within the next 2 weeks. Koyori's cute but her appeal to EOP is a bit limited because she just talks so much chat translators can barely keep up.
