General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

Just noticed Calli cancelled a stream today a few days ago due to some "hard news":

60 minutes late to the party, but Ars is having EN practice stream:
Surprised the resident Niji shills didn't post
In my defense I was watching Pomu's membership VR chat karaoke which didn't appear in holodex. Will give the VOD a watch because watching Ars try to learn english with her lisp(?) is hilarious.

Might be the Japan lockdown preventing her from going home for. A lot of foreign youtubers in Japan are upset about this as well. Considering Japan has made Christmas into a dating focused holiday and KFC, I see why it would be hard news.
She could always bunk with Connor at his new place

I don't really watch Ars; just because I shill Niji doesn't mean I watch all 155 members, and I hope nobody else is mad enough to do that.
I haven't been here since monday since page 3900. Can someone give me the tldr of all interesting that happened since then

No

I think someone here also mentioned how one of her fam might have gotten the coof or something.

I'm probably alone in the thread on this one but I think Pippa is extremely cringe, and so are the people who treat her like some kind of pied piper of autism.

Nah dude you aren't alone we just leave it be.
*Dislikes autism and cringe*
Nigga I think you are on the wrong website

I'd rather deal with kiwis self aware autism than reddits or youtube delusional cringe autism. Nothing is worse than people who don't know how cringe and embarrassing they are being in public.

Missed live whale song, RIP me. Fortunately since Sakamata's stream was scheduled and had 60K watching there are clips up already. Agreed that she was hiding her power levels hard. Also not a fan of her song choices, but comparing her covers of Look What You Made Me Do and Bad Guy with Kronii is funny enough for me, and Never Enough was a good showcase of what she can do.

Orca can sing english better than Suisei but sadly she can´t do fast parts for shit ... same as Suisei
I'll reserve judgement until I hear orca brrrrrt her way through Red.

(I wouldn't mind if the JPs sang the EN and ID original songs more often in general. Half of them are already in Japanese anyway lol.)

Gura: Stop picking on the elderly? Make me! They're easy prey.
Did she face any 61-year-olds?

Seems like no one noticed, but Goddess and YabaIRyS collab:
Idk how cuphead works co-op like if you need to be close by or something, but this will take maybe at least 2 streams if they're not gonna finish it in one stream.

Caught some bits of it earlier. It's been said before but collabs with IRyS are always good.

Sora: Graphic is very cute but game is very hard.

The only thing I remember about Cuphead co-op is that Gura and Calli tried online and gave it up because of lag.

On NFTs. They stand for non-fungible token. If you think of digital currencies like Bitcoin and etherium as money where 1 dollar is 1 dollar and 1 Bitcoin is 1 Bitcoin, you can think of NFTs as if people started caring about the individual serial numbers on a dollar and valued each dollar differently based on the serial number. The non-fungible part means one nft can't be replaced by some other nft.

Why do people care? There is a bunch of hype on using it for a method of proving digital ownership. An artist could for example give out an NFT to everyone who buys an album from their store. Like a way of showing you bought the album legitimately and didn't pirate it with the bonus of you being able to transfer the token to someone else it if you want to later.

It's only a token, a unique identifier. So for example cover makes 1000 limited edition Gura jpegs and sells one NFT for each of them. That doesn't stop people right-clicking and saving the image. But you can bet your ass some people would pay shit tons to be able to say they own the token for Gura image 106 from the initial run.

People like exclusivity and saying they "own" stuff. Or even just having some unique token to show you supported an artist you like.

--------------
This post probably comes off more positive about NFTs than I actually am. I don't think I've ever said NFT out loud without immediately laughing afterwords. There are some cool possibilities with them. But right now it's mostly hype and nothing more.

I also totally support Pippa doing something with them and making a complete shit post out of it. If I'm already going to chip in some money, may as well get a token to laugh about.

She's a breath of fresh air for me especially since every other ENVtuber seems to be trying to go for the "look at me say horny things". I can also identify with some of the shit she says like missing how the internet was before every retard and their grandmother started using it to get offended at everything.

Well, Pippa's new dono alert murdering everyone's ears seems to be working well. Shit ton of red superchats this stream.
The last few streams have had 2 or 3 which is pretty decent.

Orca Karaoke:
I had hoped she'd be into anything besides straight-up modern pop (maybe pop-punk at least? or that's just the belts and plaid talking). Regardless, she did an amazing job, especially that last song, and I'd love to see more.
Her English pronunciation is surprisingly good overall, but the teenager in me finds it hilarious when the applause emojis come up and she says "thank you for crap!"

The two of them seemed to hit it off really well during that 3D-plus-cardboard stream the other day, and now they're already doing a game collab together. Super stoked to see Sora's found a new friend!
In retrospect, IRyS was the perfect person to make friends with Sora -- fluent/native Japanese, living in Japan, but westernized enough to not be afraid of reaching out to her.
Crossing my fingers for it to not just be a one-time thing.
