I think NFTs get as hated online as they do because right around the time they blew up, there were a lot of people claiming other people’s art as their own NFTs, and art stealing online is a pretty hated thing these days. I think that’s why the hate get so over-exaggerated along with the typical “the shit is stupid” stuff.

Also there’s been a bunch of scams with them, but that only affects the idiots going all into it like a crazy person.

I think it would also help if their proponents drilled into people's head it's a token. It's a token, it isn't the file or image or contract or rights or whatever it's a token.

You can make a contract that uses the token or send a file to the person who bought the token or give the owner of the token transferable rights based on possession of the token. But it's still a token.

Some people who hype NFTs like to try and avoid that point. That the token is just whatever block chain saying whatever wallet has token number whatever.

Might be the Japan lockdown preventing her from going home for. A lot of foreign youtubers in Japan are upset about this as well. Considering Japan has made Christmas into a dating focused holiday and KFC, I see why it would be hard news.

I have a feeling that it is less of a problem of leaving the country and more of coming back. And being fair to Japanese the new years is their family holiday so it would be weird to have two family holidays back to back. I do wonder if she will still take that two week break even if she isn't going to see family and just be in Japan?

The only good application for it would be intellectual piracy prevention. Especially in art as it overlap with other media like Vtuber modeling and rigging etc.

The artist can use unique NFT token to prove transaction of a Vtuber model they are working on. If some rando steal their design (no pay), hopefully NFT will prevent the rigging guy from wasting their time and effort to those “choosing beggars”.

Obviously it will open up anew can of worms but hey social media designed to make people lose brain cells anyway.

In retrospect, IRyS was the perfect person to make friends with Sora -- fluent/native Japanese, living in Japan, but westernized enough to not be afraid of reaching out to her.
