I recall an interesting documentary series by an English fellow named Adam Curtis, with the somewhat excessively hoity-toity title All Watched Over By Machines of Loving Grace. I'm not familiar with horses in the slightest, but simply looking up pictures of "starved horses" versus healthy ones yields almost visually identical results.

There's also this video for identifying a healthy horse, and the ribs nor hip bones aren't visible in any capacity, unlike the tranch's horse.

So even as a layperson, I can conclude that yes, the tranch's horses are indeed also emaciated. On top of that, the tranch's horses don't appear to be properly groomed in any capacity.
