Fevers are extremely dangerous for young children. You don't play around when your kid has an abnormal temperature. If rotating tylenol and motrin doesn't help take the kid to urgent care or the ER because you can end up causing severe harm (including death) if you ignore a fever. Call the doctors office too so they know what's going on.
Honey isn't going to do shit other than make your sick kid sticky and make them even more sick
I’m new around here, but just wanted to add to the fever discussion. I’m a Peds ER nurse. Fevers in and of themselves aren’t dangerous. We now know the height of the fever doesn’t really affect the likelihood of febrile seizures, it seems to be more related to the rapid increase or decrease of temperature. And febrile seizures are not inherently dangerous, most are self limiting and the vast majority of children who have them do *not* go on to have a seizure disorder.
Unless it’s a teeny tiny baby (like less than 60 days) as long as the child is acting relatively normal and perks up after then temp comes down, we don’t even do any sort of work up until they have had a fever for 5 days, especially if they have an obvious focus like a head cold, flu, etc.
We recommend Advil and Tylenol just to keep the kid happy and comfortable, but if they have a fever and they’re still eating and drinking and acting normally, the fever itself is not going to hurt them.
All this is for a child with a normal healthy immune system, a child like Luna would need to be seen to sooner than the average child.
