Dec 10 () –
The Government of the Czech Republic has approved this Friday the mandatory vaccination against COVID-19 for people over 60 years of age and certain professions, such as health professionals or social workers.
It is one of the last laws approved by the current Government and will enter into force on March 1, 2022, according to the decree of the Ministry of Health, which includes mandatory vaccination also for medical students, firefighters, soldiers or Police officers .
However, the future of the rule is not clear, since several members of the new governmental coalition – made up of five liberal and conservative parties – have already spoken out against mandatory vaccination.
The designated Health Minister, Vlastimil Valek, reiterated this Friday that mandatory vaccination “is not the right way.” After a meeting with the Czech president, Milos Zeman, he reiterated that the new executive will repeal the rule and has insisted that it is necessary to “learn to live with COVID-19,” according to CT24.
The Czech health authorities have confirmed this Friday another 14,229 infections of COVID-19, the lowest number of infections during the week diagnosed in the last three weeks. Compared to last Thursday, it is a decrease of almost 4,400 cases. The number of hospitalized has also fallen, to 6,321, 1,086 of them in serious condition.
