Difficulty is a highly volatile topic because most Devs don't do anything special with their difficulty. The days of seeing significant changes to levels when changing difficulty has long since gone.

As many have said, modern games see difficulty as just increased numbers on enemies, turning fights into nothing more than prolonged slogs. It's why I'd don't blame anyone, even DSP, for playing on normal.

Besides, Phil doesn't need to play on higher difficulties to fuck up, all he needs is for an enemy to do something new. Or something that requires having reflexes

In games like Gears of War you can play co-op on different difficulties, all it does it change the damage you receive and deal.

I think we need to point out most of us don't stream and as such don't play to keep people entertained. I find it utterly exceptional when people like Phil claim they're good at games and put them on lower difficulties.

I think that's the main difference. I have no shame in playing games like Divinity on easy because I want to a: finish the game and b: not kill my team due to friendly fire (who thought this would be a fun mechanic?). But I'm also not streaming so I'm not entertaining anyone other than myself. Then again, neither is Phil. Hell, he hardly entertained himself most of the time lately.

Like Nigel also said, I wouldn't mind watching a streamer play a game on easy either, if the streamer was entertaining enough and they hadn't been bragging about how amazing they were at video games.

Honestly, the streamers I watch do beg. They beg their viewers to please use the money on anything else but them since, while they appreciate the support, it doesn't really give the viewer anything as they will stream the next day regardless.

Its a weird paradox Phil has with game difficulty. We know he loves to draw out gameplay to make more videos for WWE funds, but at the same time he hates playing games, so it has to be a balance between maximizing game time and minimizing the actual gameplay.

But at the same time, Phil can't simply ride easy mode because, well, he has to keep up appearances that he's actually decent at games.

Anyway, I tend to play games on the normal difficulty, but that tends to be because most of the games I play don’t have difficulty settings.

We all know that the true "canon" difficulty is actually easy (I forget what it's called, something like "Don't hurt me too bad") not because the demons are weakest, but because of how strong Doomguy should be.

You know it says a lot about our society the entire genre of racing games when karting games with cartoonish vidya characters are actually more difficult nowadays than "realistic" racing games purely because they don't have a dozen different assist features which make the car basically drive itself at that point.

While I agree with what you said, Forza Horizon is more of an arcade racer than a driving sim and was as far as I remember never intended to be taken as such either.

If you want to take it ''seriously'' there are Project Cars or Gran Turismo and IMO to a lesser extend Forza Motorsport all games Dave would never touch with a 10 foot pole. I might be wrong about FM as my last X Box was the 360 and I just recently got a Series X so my memory of Forza might be a bit iffy.

There is also a whole discussion to be had about our society gaming and the dumbing down of difficulty, it's just way more apparent in a driving game with it's assists.

Doom almost had me drop the difficulty but I didn't not because I'm good, just because I'm a stubborn prick who wanted to recreate the movie "Live Die Repeat" .

There's definitely less joy in making him squeal to get that money lately, and I think we can blame the very obvious arrangement going on between Phil and OIC. It's leaving a bad taste in the collective mouths of the paypigs, especially since OIC is the one who poses a threat to them beyond just making their contributions worthless in the context of paypig culture.

Phil's idiocy always finds ways to fuck up his grifts. If he had been smarter, he would be a position right now where he could afford to cut OIC loose and bask in the adulation of his paypigs once more. Probably get a new vest streak going, too. But he's dumb, so here we are, watching him drive his own legacy further into the bowels of Hell.

This really cuts to the heart of why Phil is an asshole to beg for tips, because he's streaming until the day he dies and everyone knows it. The only person who benefits from deposits being made into his PayPal account is Phil, and even then, not really, because he's so stupid with his money that those tips don't benefit him in any sane way. If he wasn't also such an asshole, somebody would care enough to seek power of attorney over him and legally forbid him from handling his own finances. So really, nobody wins when he gets tips, whether he begs for them or not. The stream certainly doesn't, because that money doesn't go into them, ever. It goes to Scopely.

Which he fucks up royally, easy mode or no, so he's an idiot for spending all these years wasting his time with that bullshit. TIHYDP taking off better than any of his videos should've been immediately followed by him either striving to get good for once or, more plausibly, embracing being the internet's butt-monkey and rolling in troll tips forever.

No joke, he could be whaling out twice as hard on Champions without even begging and we would have no idea that he's even doing it. That's what makes him truly dumb, the fact that his habits aren't even adequately fed because he's too incompetent to pull that off. Basically, he sucks at sucking.

Glad I haven't seemed to miss much if this is the case. I stopped following him as closely as I did for a couple of years towards the end of summer and I just can't bring myself to get stuck in again, at least not as much as I once was. Phil is lucky he's as much of a shut-in as he is. His absolute scummery is almost offset by the fact that he can't be milked for being a nuisance to the general public like other lolcows, so he just ends up being boring. Less boring than Amberlard and a dickhead like Spoony, but still boring nonetheless. Only thing I miss is being in here shooting the shit with my neggies and laughing at him and his retard cabal.

He truly is the pigroach. No matter what he says or does, he's not going anywhere, and will continue being a boring hermit who does just enough to stay relevant as a lolcow. That being said I might tune in for the holiday festivities to see what comes of it. Although I saw a short bit of his halloween stream and if that's any indication where he's at with special day streams now, it's going to be a snoozer.
