^^^ You come sooooo close, but the NPC programming is just too strong!

Let me get this straight - all the pure unfiltered retardedness thrown at us these past couple of years was accepted without question, but then the Moronic variant suddenly was a step too far? It honestly comes as a surprise to me, since I was pretty sure that anyone who is still drinking the koolaid up to now must be completely beyond hope.
At a certain point, a lot of people had to start seeing that the things their "conspiracy theorist" friends were saying jibed a lot more with reality than what their NPR/CNN liberal friends were saying. If you'd asked one of the conspiracy nuts a year ago what Christmas 2021 would look like, they'd say vaccine passports, QR codes to buy groceries, empty shelves, endless mandatory shots of experimental drugs, total capture of all governmental authority by pharma companies with no regard for safety. Liberals would have told you a beautiful tomorrow was just around the corner and that Biden had a plan to make sure covid was a thing of the past by spring or summer at latest.
A certain number of people are willing to go with a majoritarian consensus but keep their eyes and ears open in case the "loyal opposition" turns out to have had a more accurate assessment of society's path. I think a lot of people also thought of themselves as civic-minded, and were willing to make sacrifices on a war-like basis. They were promised that if they submitted to an injection, maybe two, normalcy would return. Masks would become a funny relic of 2020 we smiled wryly at when we pulled them from a disused jacket pocket. "Remember that weird year?" Concerts and museums would go back to normal, kids would play together at school again without restrictions. Just get the jab. Why would you keep this future from happening with your selfishness?
None of those promises panned out. Little children are outside eating in the cold, and jabs no longer seem to do anything to stop you from getting infected, unless by "do anything" you mean "make you insufferable as you wax rhapsodic about how much worse it would definitely have been without the jab."
Put it another way: If your parent told you that if you did a hated chore, you'd get to go to a fun party, you might be the kind of kid who says "fuck you and that party, I won't be manipulated." A lot of Kiwi Farmers are like that, for obvious reasons.
But maybe you're the kind of kid who says
okay, I'll do it, and you do exactly what you're told for the promise of the social event of the year. If your parents then drive you halfway to the party, then turn around and say "we've changed our minds, the house definitely isn't clean enough for you to leave yet," you're not going to trust this deal the next time it's offered. In spite of all the tweets promoting it, no one was ever getting vaccinated for a free donut. They were getting vaccinated to live a normal life, because that's what they were promised implicitly by every media and public health source.
Now they took that from people, and they didn't just take it from them. They did what the left likes to call "gaslighting." They are straight up saying "No one ever told you the vaccines were nearly 100% effective. No one ever said vaccines would slow the spread. No one ever said vaccines would make it so you didn't have to wear a mask. No one ever said we'd have a normal Christmas. No one ever said you'd be able to visit grandma again if enough people got vaccinated."
And it's being done for the exact purpose of "gaslighting," which is to say, it's being done to make people who notice the retcons feel crazy. You're a conspiracy theorist if you think anyone ever said the vaccines were close to 100% effective. Are you okay, are you feeling alright, you sound like a QAnoner, no one ever said 70 or 80% of adults getting the vaccine would make it so we could have normalcy again, obviously we were always going to have to vaccinate all the kids.
They want to tell people that their recollection that the chocolate ration has gone down, not up, must be wrong. Their memory is faulty. Perhaps they read the wrong sources. Perhaps they were misled by "fake news." Anyhow, whatever the story is today is the correct one. There's no need to ask more questions, all such a thing could do would be to reveal you as a wrongthinker.
