Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

Japan is finally releasing their vaccine passport app. I'm sure it'll go smoothly /sneed.

Seems to only be for international travel at the moment, but if there's any inkling of requiring it for normal life activities I'm going to flip my lid. The news is even saying it's modeled on the EU's which gives me pause.

No one around me gives a single solitary shit about covid at this point except for foreigners it's ridiculous. People only mention Omicron to make based Transformers jokes. If a country that's like 80% geriatrics is barely affected by your super death virus, maybe it's not as scary as you're making it out to be.

Honestly Japan is one place I'd be okay using such an app. It's totally useless, pointless and unworkable. But I legitimately trust the nips not to be actively working against their own populace enough to pretend that it's actually doing something out of a sense of civil respect.

It's going to be fun if he was actually vaccinated but just opposed mandates, but if true that would just be buried.
Pity. Means that Washington's gonna replace him with a Democrat senator. State's gonna have a California-level supermajority government, guaranteeing it's unsalvageable at a local level.
It is not known if Ericksen was vaccinated or not against COVID-19.
You just know they'd be putting it in the headline were he not.

So much for "Based Nippon", huh?
I wanna travel, I want to go to Japan, but I don't want the jabby, dammit.

And here I thought the boxed bill (that I've posted repeatedly in this thread) was the worst.

Maybe I'll just stay in Mexico when I go on my vacation. Just ... wander off somewhere.
<snip>

Wish I could say I was surprised about the school and college mandate bills but I'm not. Looks like the insane "no vax, no health insurance" bill is still being drafted and doesn't have a citation or name yet, might pop up in January if psycho Burke doesn't back off. (Archive) If he doesn't, he'll be a bigger idiot than a politiroach in Illinois who proposed and then withdrew something similar a few weeks ago. (Archive)

An Illinois Democratic lawmaker who recently introduced legislation that would require individuals who have not been vaccinated against COVID-19 to pay for their own medical expenses, including hospital bills, if they contract the virus has pulled the legislation, citing "unintended" division and threats he received as reasons behind the decision.

Guess he didn't want to play Minecraft.

STD shots for children? what?

They probably have the HPV vaccine in mind, it was controversial for a while. Ironically, the parents who were hesitant about it were smeared as dirty Talibangelical prudes, when the real reason most of them had was safety concerns as it was brand new, or just weren't convinced it was necessary to worry about giving to kids before puberty. (Archive) Sound familiar?

Your body makes no spikes. Its a chicken egg vaccine with a dead protein that cannot replicate. Its mostly safe save allergic reactions...tho effectiveness isnt known. Its been deployed in several countries with no issues so far.

<snip>

It works like crap against Omicron. (Archive) I'd also hesitate to declare anything on its safety without long-term trials, as the "synthetic protein -> insect -> infected insect product -> you" process is still a medtech first, but I do agree that if someone put a gun to my head and told me it was this or Pfizer/Moderna/J&J/AZ, I'd pick Novavax. I'd pick Sinopharm over any of them though.

But interim results from a Novavax trial that ran separately in South Africa, in which a different, troubling variant of SARS-CoV-2 accounted for most infections, were sobering. Among 4160 participants who were not living with HIV, the efficacy was 60.1%. It dropped to 49.4% when an additional 240 HIV-infected participants were included.

On a positive note, here's a nice bit of legal news to take off some of the sting of yesterday's setback in the 6th Circuit -- all the uncertainty of the past few months of litigation over the various federal and state mandates is scaring off some employers from instituting their own private mandates, or at least modifying them to be less stringent. Boeing has joined Amtrak and General Electric in dropping or softening their own mandates. (Archive)

Boeing is dropping a policy requiring all U.S.-based employees to be vaccinated, citing a federal district court ruling this month that blocked a key Biden administration immunization mandate for federal contractors and subcontractors.

The aerospace giant’s announcement Friday followed other major companies such as Amtrak and General Electric that suspended their vaccine mandates as a result of the ongoing legal battles that pit conservative-led states against the federal government.

Japan has always been authoritarian. It swings both ways. Back in the Sengoku Jidai Period (a time of continual war and strife) there were parts of Japan killing Christians and other parts killing Buddhists (in the end, Buddhism sort of won).

Japan is based because the Japanese government and Japanese businesses serve Japan first. Japan, ironically being an island country, looks better equipped to handle a Chinese manufacturing winter than any other developed country, though Russia and the USA certainly have the resources to pull it off (whether they have the willpower is another question).

Well this is terrifying....

So if we’re allowed to force people to do things that degrade them and violate their ability to have autonomy over their body: does this set the precedent for incels to force women to date and have sex with them? Think of all the lives that could be saved if we ended the Incel problem, I know it isn’t that many that happen now but this problem is getting even worse. We could do the same for trannies, think of all the suicides that could be prevented if women were no longer allowed a choice in a partner if they just complied society would be better. Am I doing this “logic” correctly?

I tend to agree that the government is pretty authoritarian, and the general populace is pretty content to follow what they decide is the correct course of action. The double edged sword here is that the government has no recognized legal power to limit individual rights. They can set penalties to businesses, but the businesses are free to make their choice. Meaning businesses can and will wring you harder than the government might have. All "mandates" in Japan have been requests, anyways.

You may have seen in the news that the government told Japanese airlines to limit, and then stop, bookings from overseas, including to Japanese citizens trying to return for New Year's holiday. The airlines turned around and told them to get fucked.

This also means companies and restaurants get to set their own terms for safety precautions. When I booked for Christmas, most said you only had to have vaccine information for parties of 10 or more people. And when the government limited the sale of alcohol, the bars realized they easily covered the fines by just operating normally (because chains tended to follow the rules more strictly, so bars were the only place to get alcohol).

So I'm trying to be cautiously optimistic. A lot of people seem to think things might go downhill after New Year's though. I'm hoping the "poor" effectiveness of Novavax against the Decepticons omicron won't be held against it here, since the 60% quoted earlier is probably miles above the Pfizer/Moderna boosters anyways.

2024: "Pfizer executives say Covid could become endemic by 2026"

You mean a company making tens of billions of dollars in multi-year contracts for their "vaccine" against a "pandemic" doesn't want the "pandemic" to end? No fucking way! Oh, be sure to look out for the definition of "endemic" to change soon and join all the other definitions they've been changing.
The left will try and campagin on "returning to normalcy", and then just pull the rug from up under us and say "Psych!". Not that the DNC has any chance in hell bar cheating to win 2024 at this point.
Well, we know Joe Biden's "I'm bringing back the good normal years of Obama" appeal has gone so well so far.

I mean why not? I mean if we recognize incels as a danger to public health and "the experts" decide that the government giving them a gf is the best cure, then yes, it's absolutely acceptable and should be lauded as science. And hell, why not force everyone to pop an oxycontin daily before work, because it's a public health threat to experience pain at work and it improves worker productivity. If the Science and the Experts say that it's what we should do, then we absolutely should do it.

Oh, and can't forget mandatory abortions. Pregnant women Birthing people in the workforce are at greater risk of illness after all, so better force them all to get abortions for their own safety.

Well, we know Joe Biden's "I'm bringing back the good normal years of Obama" appeal has gone so well so far.
I mean, as I said somewhere else, the only thing different between 2016 and today is that we wear masks so we all look the same. The economy was in the pits and every summer the cities were set on fire by feral niggers. Citizens of all western nations were all under mass-surveillance at all times, and thought-crimes were already a thing.

Lefties were happy then, and they're happy now. And as long as they keep the normies more concerned about "respectability" in politics than results, all you'll ever see in any industrialized nations is conservatives acting as speed-bumps for globohomo faggotry.

I recently started to seeing an interesting trend, not sure if any of you spotted this yet.

Now when faced with irrefutable claims of "vax doesn't prevent covid, vax doesn't prevent death, vax doesn't prevent lockdowns in highly vaxed countries, you ll need QR code to live and endless boosters are coming" (basically everything was said by us before that Branch Covidians deemed false information and conspiracy theory), they respond with "well even if antivaxers were right doesn't mean they were right!! They were just guessing and it wasn't based in science! We only evolved to this through following science and now we know this!! So we still must not to listen to any conspiracy theorist and believe in science! "

Basically when they have to accept what have been told before, they rationalize it by saying it was just a wild guess so it can be dismissed as not real.

How can you bend yourself to this level of mental gymnastic?
How can i even respond to this, as i was left speechless the first time i heard it irl...

2 ways this is going to go. Omicron replaces Delta Covid (and any mutations) completely and it gives strong cross natural immunity to those who catch it to all variants of Covid 19. If that happens it will be obvious to a r.etarded blind man and this will be done with.

Second is that Delta and Omicron will circulate as two separate viruses and exposure to the milder bug won't give immunity to Delta Covid, especially in the vaccinated because of OAS, which we 100% know is a thing from the UK surveillance data. If that happens then unfortunately Omicron Covid will be a blip on the radar and the insanity will continue to drag on.

I think the first scenario is by far the likeliest but the second isn't impossible.

I wonder how they will justify this . Dunno if its permanent so i need smarter guys to tell me how bad is it.

I am curious actually.

If you get infected by COVID first, get natural immunity, then take the "vaccines," I would imagine OAS doesn't apply. Right?

The second scenario describes the "viral blizzard" watchword. But the reality is that we've had the second scenario in effect for quite literally a year.

They were still going on about Beta variant spread as late as this summer (specifically in reference to the varying anti-infection efficacy from vaccine to vaccine and variant to variant) and there have literally been 8 different variants of coof (each with their own varying branches of mutations) in circulation between delta and omicron. Lambda was discovered in APRIL. Chances are that they've simply gone unnoticed by the wider public, because they weren't needed and at the time to stir up panic and panicked demand for boosters just as initial 2 dose vaccination was gaining momentum.

Panic should not be on the table at this point, when the only authority on the data so far (South Africa) says that 2 doses of vaccines is 70% effective against severe illness and hospitalization. Bearing in mind that the chances of avoiding that for unvaccinated people who are barely young and barely healthy individuals was pretty high even with delta. Bearing in mind that most western European countries have >70% full vaccination across their entire populations, and are still cracking down (with North America almost certainly soon to follow).

They're tremendous faggots but I still love them, you know? It's my sister, who has used her asthma as an excuse for an even harsher covid xmas than last year, which makes approximately zero sense.
Sometimes, loving people means letting them go.

I had family and friends like this and having them in my life became intolerable. So I no longer see or have anything to do with them. I've left my door open to them if they stop their fucking insanity in the future but having people like that in your life can, for some - and hates off to you if you can deal with it - make life beyond miserable.

I've no real faith or religion, but I started going to Church again, started volunteering and told my boss I will happily work in the office (which is awesome, I now get extra responsibility and more pay, so hoorah) the whole time,

I miss the friends and family I lost. But their behaviour and their idiocy made life hell. I was happy to have a DADT policy on it all, but I got fucking sick of being asked personal medical questions all the time, being pestered about things, and realising that while many had caught onto the lies, these people were doubling down harder. And the reason they were is because they are fundamentally lazy fatfucks who are content to sit at home, getting fatter, not going out, not working properly and being paid for it.

Insanity over coof aside, people like that are an emotional burden and serve no good.

Edited to add, cos I've noticed it: Women whose periods are now fucked because of the "vaccines", Dysmonnorrhoea is a serious thing and needs checked by a GP, and you'll need to have an up-to-date smear test. Which involves a GP. Which ain't fucking happening.

Yay. Science. Muh pandemmiiiiiikkkkzzzzzz. Muh pubikkzz hellllfffzzzzz. Etc, etc.
