General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

You mean the quality of the messages? Mori's one are pretty cringe most of time but streamer reflects their audience i guess.
No, I just worded it pretty horribly. I meant I wondered if Kiara and Calli get their gigantic amount of superchat money from a ton of smaller superchats or if they have a couple of whales that shell out multiple red supers constantly.

So I got a legitimate question. What's the appeal of VTubers? I'm not trying to start shit, I'm just a fucking lizard brain and I still cannot grasp what keeps you all attracted and keeps you coming back.
Keep it short:
1/entertainment value
2/ no drama just pure stress relief
3/ no 🌈 nonsense as those does not last long anyway and this place are keeping track of those low cow.

Last but not least:

Does anyone have this video? It's a really good 3D rendition of Gura and Ame. There in this bedroom with each other. Ame tells Gura she has to go away for a while and she does. Gura waits all the years in this same room for Ame to return. She even plans a party for when she gets back on the day Ame tells her she would return. She has a cake and everything. But she doesn't come back. It's kind of a depressing video. But I can't find it anywhere now.

in case you missed it: Tenma's team threw the last match of the crab game costing her 50 points. She raged and muted herself on discord. They tried to give her the points out of pity and she rejected them hard. around Kanpainiggies never releax.

Everyone involved from the top brass of V-Tuber management to the sweatiest of fans making OMOCAT sell out of XXXL Gawr Gura shirts are subconsciously wired to old, top secret Nazi technology repurposed from mass brainwashing into specifically creating an autistic hivemind.

Side effects of the source code includes, but is not limited to:
• Ensuring that the black V-Tubers are the least popular of their group.
• Being astoundingly quick to overblow situations.
• Being astoundingly quick to claim that people with dissenting opinions are traitorous and inherently dangerous to the cause.
• Being broke as fuck.
• Worshipping a normal, relatively short man belonging to the Axis powers.

On the surface, we are just people who enjoy reliving the Golden era of YouTube gaming content through cute anime characters, but the rabbit hole is much more sinister than that. In fact some will claim that this fandom and industry is completely clean and drama free. This is misdirection to stop you from asking too many questions. People who have been plugged in for a long time will even feel the need to post about cute noises some of them make. We consider these lost causes.

Don't forget that KFP actually stands for Kiara Führer Präsident.

Imagine if Asuka or Rei or whoever your favorite anime waifu is had a YouTube channel where they streamed themselves playing video games and you could interact with them via chat. That's probably the best explanation I can think of to describe the appeal.

You let me know when you find one. I'd love for an EN chuuba to stream armored core.
Armored Core was the shit, I wish they would come out with a modern one
YES, Armoured Core really was the shit, I have fond memories of the past games, I would murder for a todays version or something just to scratch that itch again but deep down I know it unlikely to happen.

In other news, Ina just started her Q&A Stream, this could be an insightful one as on the members post she mentioned their was some really good questions 🤷‍♂️ take it what you will.

Yes, we know the characters aren't real. But the people behind them are, and they are often, at least with the groups that people here talk about most, highly talented entertainers who wouldn't have nearly the same reach without the avatars, either due to not being sufficiently attractive in a highly visual medium to immediately stand out from the "hot girl on the internet" types who tend to get followings when irl streaming, or because they're not as comfortable putting their real selves directly out there. The separation between self and avatar also seems to have the effect of keeping their egos in check in the face of their success, so they don't seem to get as arrogant (outside of character bits) as most celebrities do.

This obviously doesn't apply to every last indie vtuber out there, but at the corpo level you have a remarkably high concentration of talented individuals who can at least project (and frankly, many probably legitimately have) decent personalities, who know how to keep politics and other divisive issues out of it, talking about or doing stuff you like, with an aesthetic veneer that never makes your brain go, "ugh, take it away." Plus a lot of them have very pleasant voices that we just like listening to.

Two more HoloX schedules up:
Koyori will collab with Mio (Tweet), I can't read her schedule but someone translated in the replies.
Lui has only listed a "secret" (Tweet), which could likely be a collab.

This is just a personal observation, but whenever I checked on Chloe's stream, especially streams like singing, there's nothing but Red SC as far as you can see. Oga was right, Chloe is one scary woman
For a couple weeks after Gen6 debut, simply scrolling down my YT subscriptions page revealed hours and hours of SC reading streams by Chloe.
But then in her recent Duolingo, she started the stream by saying she would only read out the reds, so that might be the case for other streams too -- until things calm down, if ever.

Can't blame her one bit, there's simply no way she'll be able to keep up with them all. Shit, it wouldn't even surprise me if having too much of her content as SC reading, would ironically hurt her performance in the YT algorithm.

Speaking orca to Duolingo:
I feel that she could converse as well as Subaru or even Lui but prefers screwing around (for now).
[cutoff a bit here]
Laplus is definitely working hard. I've noticed JP6 often streams twice a day multiple times in a week. As for EN collabs, I'm hoping for Lui or Sakamata to lure Mumei into her first JP collab.
Thanks for the clip! Good point on Mumei, Lui/Mumei in particular would fit nicely with the Holobirds theme and they're both pretty chill.

I'm a big Rene fan. For similar reasons though I don't bring them up.
I for one would never complain about more Rene info. I love her voice, and she seems really fun as a person, but she usually streams outside of my timezone.

Also, what are the current guesses on the guys' roommates? Kaito and Tora seem fairly easy to nail, but I don't think any new candidates showed up since November, so the rest are either from further back, or the EN management got the balls to get someone who wasn't already an existing Vtuber for once (unlikely).

Speculation on /vt/ is that Java, a streamer who was most known for VRChat and GTA Online RP, is one of them. He got into vtubing earlier this year and recently nuked pretty much all of his stuff. People think Luca may be him because a random pre-debut vtuber who follows him was made a mod in his YT channel, so they may be friends irl. Java seems to have been pretty successful, with about 30k followers on Twitch, and is friends with Sykkuno.

People are also speculating that Vox may be the voice actor Daman Mills, based on the similarity between his trailer voice and Daman's role as Weiss in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake. This seems like more of a stretch to me, especially as Daman isn't British, and Mysta accidentally exposed Vox as being British. This could be 4d chess on the part of Mysta and Vox to hide Vox's identity, but that seems like a reach to me.
