Plagued Consoomers / Consoomer Culture - Because if it has a recogniseable brand on it, I’d buy it!

Dust and spiders are gonna do what they do regardless, IMO unless you got mold or fungus infesting your house dusting doesn't need to be a top priority, just remember to do it every few months or every year or whatever cause that shit builds up.
Who the fuck only dusts their house once a year bro

Spring cleaning is when you do a deep clean- washing the curtains and the carpets.

You should do a general clean- dusting, hoovering, general tidying- at the very least once every couple of weeks.
Thing is nobody I know has a set schedule for cleaning shit it's just like "yeah sure dust shit off a bit if it gets too intense clean the toilet if it gets kinda gross looking" not "ah yes on this day at this time I need to do the cleaning" nobody I've known has ever washed curtains though that's a new one.
How many consoomers do you think clean their stuff, though?

In some ways I agree, and in some ways I disagree. For one, I listen to 10-20 hours of music a week, so my "cost per hour" on my setup is probably well under a dollar. Second, the speakers I have are extremely high-sensitivity horn-loaded design, which has a finesse to the sound which is incredible. You can tell a difference right away when I crank it up. It's not that they go louder, it's that they are absolutely crystal clear, even into unsafe levels. For someone that listens to a ton of music, that has value. Third, it's part of my home theater so they serve multiple purposes. I'm on like my seventh projector and 5th or 6th stereo system, so it's not like I didn't know exactly what I was getting and why. We don't even have a TV, so the theater is our living room.
Here, I'll show my power level and derail the laughing at consoomer culture thread even further:

Mains are Klipsch Heresey 3 and Klipsch RP-640D with Polk OWM3 surrounds and a SVS PB-4000 subwoofer with a bass transducer mounted in the couch, all driven by a Crown amp and Pioneer Elite AVR. Video is a LG Cinebeam HU810PW aimed at a Silver Ticket borderless 110" screen, using custom mounts I welded up to push it off the wall a few inches in order to mount the center channel behind the screen, driven by a HTPC mounted in my equipment rack in the other room. This is a LOT of system, and while the price isn't cheap (~20k for the whole build), it's actually a very good value, given the amount of use the whole thing sees. Nobody would ever convince me that this system is not worth it. I'm actually thinking about building an entire theater building at some point just to keep the noise out of the house.
Oh boy. You fucked up kid. No acoustic treatment. Low ceiling. Seats are too far from the screen relative to its size. I can go on. Tell me, what’s your calibration process?

This nigger’s spending a shit ton of money on what’s his seventh setup and he doesn’t even know wtf he’s doing. 10–20 hours a week? Rookie numbers.

You shouldn't be waiting until things are actually gross and visibly dirty before you clean them. Cleaning isn't problem solving, it's maintainence. And you should wash your curtains once a year because they get dusty just like everything else in the house, especially if you have pets. This is basic housekeeping.

Consoomers either don't clean their shit, or they spend three+ hours a week dusting off hundreds of pieces of junk. Could be a stereotype, but I think the kind of manbaby who collects marvel shit or whatever probably isn't mature enough to keep up with the cleaning. Either that, or their girlfriend does all the cleaning while they sit on their ass.

Real question: Does anyone here use axe/lynx?
It smells fucking horrible and everyone using it as a teenager pissed me off to no end.

Blame the advertisements back in the 2000s where the guy uses it and gets a horde of ladies rushing to him and stuff like that. I remember people using it as a replacement for a shower because they thought it would get them the ladies.

I had to reverse search this because, for the life of me, I don't understand what would compel someone to collect so many old boxes of cereal. Turns out it's a Star Wars fan. Go figure. This picture is part of a 1700 piece (!!!) Star Wars cereal collection which he has been building since the '90s.
I may have gone too far in a few places.

Reddit being Reddit about keyboards again.

Wtf? Lubricating keycaps? That’s a thing? I was looking into various key switch designs and stumbled across this. Holy shit. A keyboard has over a hundred keys. Why tf would you put all that effort into doing something that I’m 99% sure makes the keyboard worse. Keyboard tech does matter, especially when we use them all the time for work, but this is just fucking ridiculous.

I own a mechanical keyboard and I have never, ever heard about lubricating switches. It sounds like a bad idea.

I skimmed the thread to see if anyone asked why, and someone did:

...only to get downvoted for even asking, and the OP getting upvoted for his non-answer (also a lie; he sells them). But, of course, the guy who consoomed without elaborating gets upvotes:

and I still don't have a clue why you would want someone to lubricate your keyboard switches. Even his website doesn't elaborate on what the point even is. I guess these people have some audiophile-style autism with their keyswitches.

Some mechanical keyboard consoomers claim to be able to tell the difference between Cherry MX blue, Gateron and Outemu switches just by the sound. So yeah, they're now pretty much on the same level as audiophiles when it comes to autism.

Axe Ads are the best example of the retarded bro-dude side of the 00s that i don't really miss very much.

Maybe it is like modern art, something people want to pretend that they "get it" to belong in a cliche that hypes itself as elite. I'd say it applies to PC autism too, pass a certain treshold is all diminishing returns, you might get 2% extra frames for a 200% price increase, is not worth it in terms of cost-value and it probably wont be truly noticeable in performance but if you claim it makes no diference you are gonna get your ass chewed and get called a pleb by someone who spent too much time doing speedtests

It's literally just a "shower replacement" for teenagers, or at least it was when I was one. Pretty much every changing room smells like a mixture of axe and BO for that exact reason.

Gateron is shilled by the sub, but is made by a Chinese company in Longdong, People’s Republic of Ding-Dongs: https://en.gateron.cn/intro/1.html . What’s funny is that they hide this fact on their English-facing website. I honestly don’t know who manufactures Outemus, but they are not Japanese. They are likely a term for generic Chinese-made switches made by a variety of suppliers, allowing flexibility in production (since most cheaper mechanical keyboards that are sold in large volumes are Outemu or similar).

Cherry’s are designed in Germany (not sure where they are actually made), and they’ve been around for ages. Those ancient POS cash registers grocery stores still use have Cherry blacks in them. Their switches are designed for industrial applications and there is no doubt they are some of the best in the business, but Reddit retards love Gaterons because soy.

The real preferred switch IMO (for typing, not necessarily general purpose) is IBM’s buckling spring. Designed by Americans in the fucking 80s 😎 and still made today by Unicomp, a small business. But of course Reddit doesn’t care because they don’t make keyboards in all the weird autistic shapes they like. If you’re looking for a new keyboard, I would give them a chance.

My personal theory on collections is that they're cool if I can pluck any random piece off your shelf and you can tell me something about it.

One of the faggiest collecting trends I've ever come across in my life are those people who try to buy up every single game released for a game console. Even the best platforms are full of garbage. I watched a video a few years ago of a guy who bought up every single Wii game released in North America, and whoo that's such a big collection of garbage, the city could rezone his home to a landfill. Like, imagine if you went over to that guy's house to play some Wii games. You'd have maybe ten classics at most that you'd go for; a smorgasboard of dumb shit to laugh at, and then a whooooooooooooooooooooooooooole lot of filler. You'd enjoy Punch-Out, you'd laugh at Onechanbara, and you'd browse past the countless FIFAs, Just Dances, and late 2000s movie licenses on your way to those games. Yeah, the consoomers will be wowed and love it, but at the end of the day, I sincerely doubt your copy of Scene-it Twilight and iCarly is making you feel fulfilled in life.
I don't think this would be as bad if they were doing it for archival reasons and the games werent fully archived elsewhere

Anyway... More Reddit collecting subreddit posts

I always see consoomers with a line of shit in front of their TV/Monitor, does it not annoy them? How do you even watch the TV with that much shit around it link

Sorry about the formatting I'm not sure how to format these multiple image / different size image posts
