There was an interesting podcast interview with Debbie Hayton (a self-described autogynephile) recently that went over a lot of this; he talked about how there is intense shame and disgust of the concept of AGP in the MtF community (I don't personally think all heterosexual MtFs are AGPs, but that is another topic) and he was unable to accept it for years and kept clinging on to "I am actually a woman!" but when he did finally accept it his mental health improved immensely.

I would argue that autogynephilia is likely near universal in TIMs who aren't exclusively androphilic. What other possible explanation could there be for a heterosexual man to permanently transform himself into an approximation of a woman?

I developed transvestism when I was 13. To me it has always unmistakably felt like a paraphilic urge. Never seriously entertained the possibility I was trans or transitioning. Episodic crossdressing and crossdressing fantasies have always been enough for me. Had I been born 10 years later, I probably would have transitioned and appear in this thread somewhere, lol.

Learning about autogynephilia a few years ago was a game changer. It's such a complex paraphilia. It explained so many aspects of my sexuality that I had always been confused about that transvestism alone simply didn't address. Like why am I attracted to men who resemble women? Does that make me bisexual? Why have I always found the idea of being a woman more attractive than the idea of being with a woman? Why has my desire to crossdress become less sexually motivated as I've gotten older? What's motivating it then if it's no longer directly associated with sexual release?

Because a kindergarten-age kid would totally say "I don't feel like me." As if such a kid has a concept of the real subject "I" as distinct from the ideal object "me", something that philosophers haven't figured out until the 18th century.

These fucks have read so much fanfiction that they forget what normal people talk like.

Kids do repeat phrases expressing complex or unknown ideas if the adults around them are using them, but it doesn’t mean they understand the meaning of the phrase: they pick up meaning by context and mimic what they hear. So for example if you have a mother who gets bad period pain and needs to lie down in bed and who always says “I have cramps” before she does, a young kid might start saying “I have cramps!” when she’s tired and wants to lie down in her room. She doesn’t understand periods but she knows it’s something grown-ups say before they’re left alone. That’s a more extreme example, but that kind of thing is extremely normal.

If a young kid did use the phrase “I don’t feel like me when…” it would be because they heard adults around them using it, or because an adult read a book to them that used the phrase a lot. The key being that the kid would have no idea what it really means in terms of personal identity and would have picked it up as a way of saying “I don’t like skirts.”

(Of course it’s just as likely that they embellished what she said or made it up entirely)

Child development specialists should be all over this, but I guess they don’t want to lose their jobs.

I remember Isaac (dude in this video). We chatted on Discord a few times. He unfriended me after I tried to convince him not to transition a few years ago. At the time he was seeing a gender therapist and had obtained a prescription for testosterone blockers but was ambivalent about starting them. I remember bringing up AGP. He said it didn't apply to him. He admitted to having been aroused by his femme self in the mirror but gave some ridiculous excuse like who doesn't get turned on when they think they look good.
