The Linux Foundation has announced the posting of a report on its research into diversity, equity, and inclusion in open-source communities.

The research shows that while a majority of respondents feel welcome in open source, many in underrepresented communities do not. We hope that the data and insights that this project provides will be a catalyst for strengthening existing DEI initiatives and creating new ones.
The full report can be downloaded from this page.

Good. Troons and furries fuck off.

They accidentally revealed an interesting piece of information in there: the degree of corporate capture of the open source space. "Only" 14% of contributors are paid. (Assuming the sample is representative, anyway.) And they clearly want that number to be higher, seeing as they consider it a "DEI issue" to begin with.

People speaking European languages have a higher rate of being paid. I wonder if that's due to a higher concentration of corporate influence in Europe, or just more hobbyists in the Anglosphere.

I’m not really sure Linus Torvalds cares that much about things like this
They send him to tranny HRT MK-Ultra reducation camp for not caring about this. Now he is compromised CIA nigger.

Compared to how many coders are paid, how much of the code is written by people in paid positions? Because I bet that would be a LOT higher.

[Linus Torvalds is] actually a spineless cuck and has already bowed to the mob. He really does care about this stupid identity politics bullshit.
They turned his daughter against him, which of course is partly his fault, but this is a classic totalitarian move. I'm not convinced deep down he really cares about this over working code, and haven't seen evidence that after his Official reeducation he's actually changed any of his policies including flaming idiots when called for (but maybe more politely).

Still, the portents aren't good, plus increasingly it's PoetteringOS, so investigating alternatives like the BSDs should be considered. FreeBSD has even recovered somewhat from its SJW infestation, although I'm not sure that didn't do fatal damage to it, tangibly it's not a good sign when they throw away their ZFS port for the Linux version.

He doesn't say "fuck" so often, but beyond that he's as acerbic as ever, and he's not yet given up his hold over the commit process. Between the input of him, Kroah-Hartman, and T'so, the kernel is still pretty safe from troonish entryism. The only problems on the immediate horizon is Intel trying to get programmable hardware management into the kernel, which would allow them to lock features on their silicon and require a subscription to unlock again.
