Peter Dinklage has some specific views on why fans didn’t like how Game of Thrones ended.

“They wanted the pretty white people to ride off into the sunset together,” he told The New York Times in a recent interview.

Dinklage then cited GoT’s fantastical elements as a reason to not really get caught up in the show. “By the way, it’s fiction. There’s dragons in it. Move on,” he added. “No, but the show subverts what you think, and that’s what I love about it. Yeah, it was called Game of Thrones, but at the end, the whole dialogue when people would approach me on the street was, ‘Who’s going to be on the throne?’ I don’t know why that was their takeaway because the show really was more than that.”

Dinklage also said he believes that people railed against the finale almost out of anger, as if they were in a relationship and were being broken up with.

“It was the right time. No less, no more. You don’t want to wear out your welcome, although I’m not sure that show could have,” Dinklage explained. “But I think the reason there was some backlash about the ending is because they were angry at us for breaking up with them. We were going off the air and they didn’t know what to do with their Sunday nights anymore. They wanted more, so they backlashed about that.”

The show indeed faced backlash for various reasons, including a water bottle blunder, Daenerys Targaryen’s villainous turn, and Bran Stark becoming king of Westeros. Oh, and sorry for the spoiler.

Dinklage can next be seen in the new film Cyrano, which releases Dec. 31.

He is kind of dumb because he managed to escape the show with a very positive reputation and he should try to keep it that way. Everybody blamed the writers and showrunner, everybody complained about the action setting and some people complained about the sexual violence and the dialogues, but nobody blamed his acting. He escaped the wreckage unscathed.

Maybe he is too attached to his character and is upset people were not more happy to see Tyrion survived and got a happy ending. Tyrion was a white guy who rode into the sunset with others white guys, while a lot of non-white non-guys died so i don't get why he is trying to spin a intersectional angle on the backlash.

This show had problems, Peter. It was cool, then it wasn't and at the end it was absolutely terrible.

A voice from nowhere!

When a work of fiction fails to present the proper number of women, blacks, and gays, something must be done because representation/diversity matters (they don't). When wokists vandalize something they didn't create, 'LOL it's just fiction bro calm down.'

I noped out at Season 3 when it became even more obvious the producers had no interest in following the books and just wanted to fill up half the air time with softcore mommy porn.
Season 2 and everything after was a mistake.
The only good part of the series was Sean Bean and the midget Imp slapping kids.

Which is exactly why I don't take advice of any kind from people who get paid millions for playing pretend. Your job pays obscenely well and requires you to be fake, why would I trust anything about you? You were also in Pixels, let's not act like you have a high mental capacity for decision making.

Lol nah the ending was obviously rushed horse shit, IIRC the show writers had been offered the opportunity to write for the Han Solo show or some other disneywars trite, and decided to just blow through the ending of GoT to get it out of the way. Pretty sure the backlash actually lost them the disney job too LOL.

IDK about Song of Ice and Fire, but if Nightflyers is any example of George RR Martin's "prose," it's fucking WORSE than My Immortal.

The fucking NOVELLA, not the 1987 movie. Jesus CHRIST, how is this guy a published author??????
I tried to read ASOIAF and I was never able to deal with the POV jumping around. I never got past the first few chapters of the first book.
