Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

Hope you guys are all having a Merry Christmas. My family (both immediate, and extended) planned to have a large dinner like we used to, but it fell through, on account of, well, all this. I was pretty bummed about it, so we settled on a compromise: we'd all meet in one family's backyard, masked, and have a short visit. I wasn't thrilled about it, but I figured, hey, at least I'll still get to see everybody. Sure, it was no big roast dinner, but that was all they were willing to do, so better than nothing, you know? Well, let me tell you, guys, it was actually pretty fucking depressing to stand out in the cold, masked, for a half hour, hearing everyone talk about getting their boosters, and I decided that if that's the only way to see my family, I'd rather just not. If they want to keep doing that, then they can do it without me. Not to say that Christmas was complete shit; it was still nice to spend a couple days with my immediate family, unmasked, watching Christmas movies and eating baked goods and all, but damn, was that gathering a let-down. Anyway, merry Christmas, guys. Hope it's good for you, whatever you end up doing

Merry Christmas.

I don't mean to be a dick but I cannot stress enough the importance of not complying - would you go to a family gathering if your schizophrenic uncle decided he was Napoleon and your entire family went along with it or would you call out the mass delusion and refuse to participate?

Standing outside wearing the Mask of Humiliation is no less insane than holding court with His Majesty, Emperor of France

Going forwards, yeah, I'm not participating anymore. But I've barely seen my family at all over these past couple years, so I was hoping it wouldn't be as bad as I expected it to be. Or, better case, we would start with the masks on, realize it's stupid, and just take them off. Best case, we realize it's stupid, take them off, and then go inside the house and hang out like we used to. Wishful thinking, I know, but I guess I was hoping for some sort of Christmas miracle

My mom and siblings are all vaccinated (though my brother refuses to get anything after the J&J he needed for school) but no one is treating me any different for it. Hell, I went to my aunt's for a couple days this week and there were like nine people under the same roof. No one said a single indignant thing about me or "anti-vaxxers". I do feel like the only reason I wasn't getting more shit for my choice is because I threatened not to show up at all when I found out my mom was bulk buying N95s in preparation for my visit and she immediately backtracked. I'm now having a pretty okay Christmas because of it: mass, presents, a big dinner, and none of it with masks.

The first step to putting this bullshit behind you is putting your foot down and not complying. First with your family, then with your community. If they're scared of living, they can hole it up in their houses and allow their emotional states to deteriorate another year.

The only family I care enough to visit is basically over the covid hysteria so it was nice to have a normal holiday today. Good to be home, my nieces and nephews done wore my ass out. Still, a drama-free Christmas would have been a miracle pre-covid, so I'll take it. Hope all of you had a decent holiday, as well.

Well, I ended up getting a one day cold on Wednesday... took a test today out of respect for my dad for Christmas activities... Tested positive. Turns out a bunch of people in my social circle and outside of it have all come down with a cold this week. But I guess now I have to quarantine for a week because COVID. Nahhh, I think I'll pass on quarantine.

How much Fauci and Pfizer pay them to post that?

Btw, there's a video then I saw by luck who's worth to archive.
I didn't see anyone post an archive of it, so here it is.

Can you imagine getting a cold, with no means to do grocery shopping, because the store is in a "New Normal" place with a "please don't enter if you have [cold symptoms]"? Especially in winter?
Fuck that. Take some Mucinex & Robitussin, give it an hour to kick in, and no one will be the wiser.

Don't test period, the results are meaningless, if people stopped testing this pandemic would dissappear. Make sure to have enough vit c, d and zinc and you can avoid being sick. I have not been sick with anything for 2 years.

Do they think everyone has the ability to have stuff delivered or "Uber Eats" or whatever?

Especially in leftist-run crime-ridden urban crapholes where "porch poaching" is an issue?

As I said, if you get a chance to move to a more conservative small town, best to take it.
Early on this year I had to deal with this bullshit. McDonald's was five minutes from my apartment on foot, but what I didn't know was that they weren't allowing walk-ins, since it wasn't advertised anywhere but their Twitter. I just made a mobile order on their app and was confused when I went there to find the doors closed.

I told some employee going in that I was trying to pick up a mobile order, some pajeet manager comes out to complain at me because I'm not in a car or ordering from UberEats. She points out two car parking spots behind me where they give orders to whoever is waiting there, but you have to be in a car. There was no facility for pedestrian pickup whatsoever in the middle of a fucking residential zone.

Eventually she gives me the order anyway while I wait outside and I don't bother going back because what the fuck. I don’t want to use UberEats unless I well and truly have to because a) it costs way more and b) every order is a diceroll because half their couriers speak basic English if you’re lucky, so better pray they don’t get lost again.

I ordered DoorDash once. Once. For my birthday. I could see I was paying a lot, but I ignored it, because birthday. The order was ridiculously close to my house, I'd just been drinking and getting high, and felt super lazy and spoiled again because birthday. Anyway my driver was a spic who didn't speak English. Somehow copying an address into Google Maps in Spanish was too complicated. He took my order to some house and took a picture of it on the porch to show it was delivered. Not my house at all. I reordered and picked it up myself. The next day I called my bank for a chargeback, because fuck DoorDash and fuck its chink founders.

My nearest McDonald's still hasn't reopened to the public yet and likely never will. Apparently the owner hated the homeless that would take up a table all day and would rather make less money than look at them.

Haven't gotten tested once since the whole fiasco. Never felt super ill so didn't feel the need to. As the old adage goes, if it ain't broke don't fix it.
