It would be nice of Sophie/Billy to give numbers. For now all I, and likely everyone on this board can do is roll their eyes.

In my area, three STEM schools have opened up, one of which is entirely for girls. It includes classes in coding, physics, and [toy] robotics.

"Cissexism." "Cisnormativity."

I swear Tumblr invents new words to oppress themselves with everyday. What they call "cisnormativity" the rest of us just call "being a boy/girl."

Geez, when did biology become offensive?

Also, you aren't "assigned" a gender at birth. The doctor doesn't flip a coin and "assign" you a gender. He looks at your genitals, and uses that to determine which gender you are BIOLOGICALLY. Saying you were "assigned" a gender is like saying you were "prescribed" a haircolor, or some other trite nonsense.

Panel 1: No we are not assigned a gender; we are born with one.
Panel 3: There have been a lot of women astronomers; especially at the turn of the 20th century. But I guess they're all boys with boy vaginas right?
Panel 2 and 4: Gender stereotypes have their pluses and minuses. You get a self-esteem boost if you're a manly man or a womanly woman (or in the prissy terms of gender studies, "good at performing your gender role").

I really do not know why LaBelle keeps thinking that people must conform to gender stereotypes.
It's really all more about not giving a fuck what society says, if you really want to get out of the "society forces gender stereotypes on me!" thing. Because let's be honest, if you run around with cloth pins in your hair or think that wearing a "boys shirt" should be acceptable without people asking questions or saying things you might dislike, then you are not living in the real world. (Though honestly, is the clothing thing EVER an issue? Have not encountered it in my lifetime and I do not dress after my gender. LaBelle should bring up some real issues some day.)

Trying to teach kids that pretty much everything is A-Okay and shouldn't be ever questioned is just silly.

As a genderfluid person, I'd like to see more representation of trans people in webcomics.

Just not this kind.

Look what just popped up on my tumblr feed...

Yeah, people do experience bias based on their identity irl, but sjws are the ones who make a big deal of it. Normal people get mildly irked by it and move on.

And I wouldn't call it "cissexism" (is that even a real term?) when it's just a part of life. There will always be individuals out there who enforce stereotyping.

*cough*Sophie*cough* Oh, sorry. I had something in my throat.

(Though honestly, is the clothing thing EVER an issue? Have not encountered it in my lifetime and I do not dress after my gender. LaBelle should bring up some real issues some day.)

I'd say it is, though not as big of an issue as LaBelle likes to make it.

If someone wears feminine clothing when they're male, and vice versa, then they should be able to accept that people are going to judge them for it.

No Stephie, you can't be in the John Lewis Christmas Ad! (No, I'm not posting the real thing)

What an awful visual for that caption. Would have been much more impactful if sat, Stephie's mom was pushing her away from the telescope because she wants Stephie's to pursue a "girl" thing rather than a STEM field.

It also doesn't make sense because science is cissexist and made by people with privilege which we know dear Stephue could never bear to participate in.

I'm pretty sure nobody would keep Sophie from playing the violin because she's trans.

She should rather be glad nobody forced her to play that darn instrument against her will year after year after year... When my parents bought a small violin for my 4th birthday, they probably hoped my face would be as ecstatic as Sophie's as soon as I held it in my hands. The exact opposite was the case. I wasn't at all enamoured with this screechy thing (you probably know or can image what a small children's violin sounds like when played by a beginner), and did my best to avoid having to practice it to the point of mechanical sabotage. But my parents weren't the ones to be discouraged quickly and kept pestering me for years.

So, Sophie, enjoy your violin but don't force others to play one. BTW you're holding it wrong, the left thumb goes under the intrument's neck, and the way you grip the bow needs some work too...

What Labelle hasn't mentioned is that before Stephen started publicly transitioning he was a keen amateur stargazer who intimately understood how to work a telescope to get the best performance out of it. Jump forward a year, and now she's wearing a purple shirt and going by Stephie she suddenly can't work out how the stupid thing functions and has no idea what she even saw in the stupid stars while there are malls to go to and Teen Talk Barbies to be played with (and also stargazing has nothing to do with being trans so clearly that's right out as a pastime). That's the power of cissexism and evil, oppressive gender roles! Maybe if she got a haircut then took off that girly shirt and put on a rocket ship tee she'd be having better luck?

I remember pretending to be a power ranger when I was a kid, not worrying about conforming to the patriarchy or whatever the fuck. If I was worried about anything it was that I'd be stuck as the blue ranger and not the ultra cool green ranger.
I wore a sweatshirt that was green and had a cloth fish tail and fins sewn onto it. I was a fish, not a girl. And I'd hop around on the floor and pretend to be a frog.

No one cared or told me I had to wear princess clothes or some shit. But those cis shitlords weren't letting me transition into my true frogness! Bastards.
