Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

Some people in my family teated positive for covid but they're in good spirit despite all that. It's why i always hold out hope for the hysteria to be over. They been vsccinated months prior, but still when will the government and media take the hint that people are sick of the fear mongering.
A relative backed out of Christmas because they had one of the symptoms of COVID even though they've been vaccinated. Nevertheless, they're still doing what they can in the meantime and not embracing the doom, hype, or fear mongering. I truly agree that people are slowly becoming more sick and tired after almost two years that they'd rather this end so that life can resume like it had before this with anyone catching COVID dealing with it on an as-needed/when it occurs basis.

I was thinking this too. They’re already looking to change the definition of “fully vaccinated” to mean 3 doses instead of 2.
There's been plenty of goalpost moving ever since COVID first became a thing. Sadly, a lot of it seems to come from people in charge who are more interested in toeing their party line and covering their asses than they are in conveying important, accurate, and up to date information to everyone. It makes it frustrating for those that have no interest in the doom and fear mongering and simply want to stay safe as much as reasonably possible.

Similar to @General Tug Boat , I stopped frequenting the thread for reasons and COVID has also influenced my professional career moving forward. Any remaining interest I had in going back to school has disappeared and I've instead earned, and plan to pursue additional, designations that are more practical for my field than another degree will ever be.

Personal blog time: during the day I started to feel some body aches but thought I had just slept in the wrong position. When I got off work I was told one of my relatives popped positive. I got home and had a 102ºF fever. I did a test and it came back negative. The fever has subsided and I'm at a regular body temperature with only a slight headache as a symptom. Hell of a coincidence if I got a different virus after being close to someone who tested positive. He's got what seems a bad cold and had to sleep it off in isolation. He is vaccinated with Janssen and I'm unvaxxed.
The funny thing is, when all the Chinese immigrants came back from the new year celebration in 2020 I got sick in a similar way - pretty strong fever for a couple of hours, and the OTC cold/flu medication nukes it. Got back to work the next day as if nothing happened. Additionally I also got exposed to a lot of people who tested positive in mid 2020 and I was apparently immune then.
In addition I've also been occasionally taking vitamin D, C and zinc plus melatonin sleeping aids due to my tendency to wake up with a raspy throat in the cold months.
Honestly, at this point I hope I just get omicron.
I'm not sure I have it, but if I do this ain't shit. I have not paid any attention to the testing BS so I don't even know how to prove I'm immune. Is it an antibody test?

happy 3500 posts!
coronachan will visit you and give you her love coof if you reply "Coronachan numba wan!"
happy 3500

Imagine being Rip Van Winkle since this shit started.

<yawns, wakes up>
"Whoa, has it been TWO WHOLE WEEKS already? Boy, I'll bet we really flattened that curve!"

<checks the calendar>
"Hmm, okay well that took a bit longer than expected... But at least the lockdowns are done, right?"

<checks the news>
"Hey, wait a minute... But at least we DID flatten the curve, right?"

<checks the covid graphs>
"Aww fuck me, I'm going back to sleep. Wake me up in 20 years motherfuckers!"

So apparently, some of the hospitals in my state are now in "divert" status, meaning that they will not accept anyone going into the ER whether if they drove themselves or were driven there (taxi, ambulance, etc.). They say it's because they don't have enough beds, but that's really code for "we don't have enough staff due to staffing shortages. We don't have enough nurses to man the beds. Physically, there are beds available, but the nurses are at capacity for patients per nurse in the ER". Undoubtedly, this is due to the glorious health mandate and the mass firing of staff if they refused to get the vaccine.

Part of me feels saddened for the people with actual emergencies getting shunted due to managerial (and government) short-sightedness. The other part of me is cynically smug and hopes that the state (and the nearby states) will see the folly of their ways.

People who want covid to be a problem don't see it like this though, they'll blame any disruption to health services on covid patients and particularly the unvaccinated filling up hospitals so no one else can get treatment. I've heard people give this as the reason why routine screening and outpatient appointments were cancelled, even last summer when there were fewer than 50 people with covid in hospital in the entire country. They will not accept that these problems are the result of policy decisions and not the virus.

Speaking of sick of the fear mongering or some people said "do as I said, not as I do".
Total conspiracy theory but I bet this is all a big push to drive us into our pods so we can live our lives in Facebook's new virtual "Metal" world.
I'm pretty sure the fact that the vaccination has little effect on Omicron will be spun as being the non-vaccinated's fault. If there had been immediate 100% vaccination rate back in winter 20/21, with everyone reaching peak immunization at the same time, there would have been no place for the virus to further mutate.

In fact, whatever goes wrong, it will always be blamed on the non-vaccinated bioterrorists who have no empathy for health-care workers.
One interesting thing I've noticed is that the average person is not keeping up to date on all the changes and rules. I keep my irl conversations very neutral and chill and I hear a lot of responses like "If everyone would just get vaccinated this would be over", and "I'm vaccinated, I can't get Covid", and "I have Covid! I'm so lucky the symptoms are mild and I'm not having to go to the hospital!" (As opposed to my initial risk analysis which said that it would be surprising if anyone young and healthy *did* go to the hospital.)

People aren't tracking this at the autistic level of detail we are. Heck, I bet a lot of them don't know that non-nurses are in danger of loosing their jobs unless it affects them or their family.

@Super-Chevy454 I think people need to start attacking doctors since I view them as agents of the state
They are. They listen and obey. What I'm worried about is, if doctors are treating patients based on what the government says, and they're just going to do exactly as they're told, why do we need doctors? Just follow the government's instructions on how to treat patients. Don't think for yourself. No education required.

So, why not replace them with a cheaper option? Nurse Practitioners don't get paid anywhere near what an actual doctor does, and hospitals are always looking to cut costs. NPs like to act as though they're equal to or above someone who studied medicine for 10+ years, but the difference in pay says otherwise.

And God help you if your only option at the ER is an NP. It's already happening. There's even a thread on it, and it's horrifying.

The technocracy being installed unironically wants every aspect of your life managed and monitored via apps following the latest (((best practice according to Sainted Experts))).

Your life, of course, the Zucc will only get the finest personalized care from the most skilled medical professionals that money can buy. He'll also eat whatever the fuck he wants while you and I enjoy the (((highly nutritious, healthy, sustainable and tasty bugs recommended by nutritional EXPERTS!)))

Should the people start putting bounties on their heads and start protesting outside hospitals or something since I’m kind of in favor it for the most part
I can't see that doing any good. The doctors are going along with the madness, sure, but they aren't the source of it.

This is why I just want to say fuck it, move out in the woods, live in a cabin, and have as little contact with society as possible. The surveillance has gotten insane, and people just let it happen.

Is there a Kiwi Homestead project in the works? Between all the autists here, we have experts in firearms, ex-military, nurses, doctors, plenty of knowledge of how to grow crops, how to build stable structures, animal husbandry, and the list goes on.

Granted, it would probably turn into another Ruby Ridge, but it would be fun while it lasted.
If you want to hurt a doctor you don't need to resort to physical means. Just tell them, and more importantly treat them, like they're not as smart as they think they are. You wouldn't believe the god complexes some (a lot) of these fuckers have.

Post 69,999. Nice.
And neurosurgeons have the biggest God complexes of them all. Seriously, fuck those guys.

It's like they watched Logan's Run, binged a few episodes of Black Mirror and then finished off with The Running Man, and thought it all sounded like a jolly good idea.

edit: sure is getting bright in this thread. Where did I put my car...

100%
I work security, and my team has had doctors get very smug and arrogant because we don't personally escort them to the toilet when they asked where it is. They give the whole I'm a big named doctor who works in a big named hospital. I know there were always doctors like that but I didn't realize how many because it happened way too many times and often, usually on the younger side late 20s - mid-30s, any doctor older than that have been way more chilled and humble.

My family and I had another great Christmas get together. Covid wasn't even mentioned beyond a couple of the kids (our adult children) laughing about the ridiculous nature of the latest covid "omicron" hype.

Good food, good company, and I'm loving my somewhat new role as a grandfather. I remember back when this whole covid thing started, I took a wait and see position in regards to the then new "vaccines". I also pulled rank to set the tone for what I thought was to come.

I told everyone that it was absolutely their own decision to make regarding getting the shot or not. One thing I made very clear though, was that I didn't want anyone making the decision to get the shot out of some misguided media driven motive such as having to "protect" me. I'm an old fart, but fit and have nothing remotely resembling a comorbidity.

I assume most of my extended family are unvaxxed. But, get the shot or not, I don't really know or care because it's their business, not mine. They're all smart enough to make their own decisions. They'll never be turned away from my door for vaccination status, because I will never ask. If you're feeling sick, have a cold, feeling flu symptoms, just do the simple and courteous thing we always used to do. Call in and stay home till you feel better.

Needless to say, my early wait and see stance changed and has been a hard no for some time now.

And, grandkids are a hoot.

I have omicron, ask me anything.

Never got a shot. Symptoms are a mild cough, stuffy nose, sneezing, and some muscle aches.

Wife also has it. She was vaxxed back in March, no boosters. Exact same symptoms and severity.

:thinking:
Dumb question but have you had the flu before and if so, how does Omicron compare to that?
