I think what a lot of her followers really want is for her to make a really strong statement against CA ( because 5 years later a lot of them still haven't moved on). Any time she's in the shit, her very restrained approach to talking about CA comes up..

However that's never going to happen because she used email and text messages when communicating with CA staff while she worked there, and she wasn't nearly as woke then as she is now.

I'm guessing this is just people subscribing so they can see the post now that it's behind a paywall. Luckily, we have a copy here.

Some people seem to forget that the turning point for Channel Awesome was when they stopped responding to the Twitter mob. After inadvertently outing Jew Wario as a sex pest (with the unintentional bonus of making CtC look like they were honoring said sex pest), they shut the fuck up and just kept releasing videos, with their numbers not even reflecting any controversy. The dream of Channel Awesome being some sort of Midwest movie machine is dead, but Doug keeps trucking along while former CA talent just posts tweets that show why they could never hold down a real job

She started around 8.6k before announcing her departure from the public eye with such dramatic flair. Which means in the last day Lindsay has had almost 2500 people give her money specifically not to work. Additionally, around 10% of the original 8.6k were hangovers from the $10/mo tier (discontinued in October). So with 11k current paypigs, that's about $28880/mo before Patreon's 8% cut or $26,570 after to do nothing but rest her fragile mental health.

All the Anime avatars circling Tom Scott on twitter don't seem to know the context or even care. Bearup abandoned twitter (for real) a few years back and she won't engage with them.

Tom Scott is the real victim here. All he wants to do is churn out mildly entertaining lightweight YouTube videos, and yet because he unknowingly made a video with someone who was cancelled because they took exception to a little old lady being beaten up by men wearing dresses, he's been forced to pay out some "fuck off" money to a troon grooming ring as a cost of doing business.

I realise this is slightly off-topic, but I have nothing to add to the topic at hand because everyone else has already echoed my thoughts on Lindsay Ellis and her short-term rage quit.

Meanwhile, Doug Walker's Pink Floyd video was the laughing stock of YouTube for like an entire year, and he didn't give a single fuck!

I watch a Let's Play channel called Oneyplays and they make fun of Nostalgia Critic constantly, Doug was alerted on a stream to their content and now he's one of their fans. He even signed a drawing of the Oneyplays guys for them.

Critic has made some shit choices but I am convinced he's a decent person

Gee Lindsay, it’s almost like going full cancel culture SJW left you open to being canceled. I don’t like Doug and the channel awesome crew, but chances are she would have been better taken care of during the Raya situation had she still be under their wing. Instead, she decided she wanted more fame and money and hoped in the “change the channel” band wagon… of which no one has managed to retain much success after with the exception of Linkara, who’s secret to success has always been consistent mediocrity.

I also like that Lindsay keeps hammering in that “rich white woman” is the go to attack, and not “spoiled e-celeb who spend a decade doing the easiest job ever now can’t handle said easy job” which is the most valid attack towards her.
I understand the concept of burn out for the content creators who literally do the same thing every week for years, it’s why we got disasters like Demo Reel, but when your entire career is built on criticizing things, not being able to handle criticism is extremely hypocritical. Especially when you devolved into little more than a drunken white trash anita sarkesian clone years after sarkesian stopped being relevant





Not saying she isn’t rich, but you don’t have tj be rich to do that. As a socal native, I can attest that the SoCal annual passport to Disneyland is extremely cheap and nearly everyone has one. Even at my shitty college retail job most of my coworkers had one. You can just go to Disney whenever and ride space mountain or something to blow off steam. I had one coworker who was broke as a joke and still used their pass to go almost every day(the SoCal pas isn’t valid on weekends or the entire month of July)

There’s also stories like the dude who paid off his student loans by buying the six flags meal pass($200 a year) and proceeded to eat all of his lunches and dinners at six flags for 7 years straights. Effectively eating large portions of high calorie foods on a budget of $200 a year, or just under $2 a day(included lunch,dinner, a snack, and a unlimited drinks on top of a variety that included over 20 different restaurants on property).

I'll second that going to Disneyland on a monthly basis is hardly a sign of living high off the hog. But Patreon shows that Lindsay does make six figures off the paypigs. And it looks like Lindsay's backers will indeed give money for nothing.
