When are these limp noodles going to saying enough is enough? I thought some of Lindsay's video essays were well done, but ultimately she endorsed that culture. Doug Walker really would have been better off without these people or at least if he was a better judge of character with who he let in. There were a lot of issues with CA, but it seems like he had a knack for picking some pretty toxic people especially the ladies. Honestly, with the "exception" of IronLiz, are there any TGWTG alumni ladies that are mostly normal? The guys were not winners either, but it seems like the girls started the most shit.

Isn't that what got her the book deal in the first place, the fact that she had a on-line presence, and now she just went and said "bye" and how is the publisher who put money behind her supposed to take it?

I mean, Lindsay gotta know she is gonna be persona non grata in the publishing world. I mean, yeah, out good buddy @Boston Brand gave us all the details on how her second book tanked... but you know, she could work it out, word of mouth still happens, and who knows, maybe she could get another deal, have a better thought out plot, and with experience, have another go with a better book.

I think her second book crashing is one of the reasons Lindsay decided to bail. She realized that promoting it would be a waste of time, and there were not going to be any prestigious awards for it coming her way. At worst, she's quitting a losing game. At best, this will spur sales enough to convince her publisher to not drop her and let her release the third book in the trilogy.

I don't understand why people are weeping for her this much. And I doubt she's had much impact on talking about movies on YouTube as an art form. Did her working so hard to shed the NChick persona and get Hugo nods for The Hobbit and talking about the MCU at its peak and talking about movies she did as the Nostalgia Chick as herself really make that big of an impact?

She "retired" that character after leaving TGWTG and I say that with quote marks because all she did was do a deeper dive into her hollow head rebranding it as something else, but is actually completely the same.

I'd also add she badmouthed TGWTG and her time as the Nostalgia Chick whenever she thought it'd make her look good and look smarter.

He didn't have the information necessary to make the leap that drama students invent drama if not tard-wrangled. The impression I got from ChannelAwesome is that it was a group of people collaborating, not a studio per se, so Doug didn't have the authority to tard-wrangle his "talents." Even in good faith, communistic organization where everyone is equal doesn't work.

More thoughts having read through most of the pages now:

She keeps claiming she was cancelled and it has ruined her life and she has lost everything, yet she has now surpassed her former patron count high, her last youtube video has over a million views. She has to be in the .1% of individual content creators, especially individuals who own their channels. I'm not doing any research to back this up and maybe her other videos were doing 2 mil views or something, but 1 million views on videos that are essentially you talking with no corporate ownership and videos that aren't like a popular artist's music video, HAS to be in the top top top top % of youtubers, maybe you're not Mr. Beast, but you haven't been de-platformed or cancelled at all. You might have lost popularity because you offended the unstable people you chose to cater your content to, but boohoo. Maybe she lost a couple friends over it? I have no idea about what goes on in private, but I know she didn't lose her public content creator besties Jenny and Contra over it, so what is she whining about exactly?

I should also have prefaced this by saying I barely remember/understand why she got "cancelled" in the first place. I know it had something to do with pissing off asians by comparing two fanchises from different asian countries, but I have no clue if what she said was racist, I'm over the age of 13 and don't have any young children/relatives, so I have never seen whatever shitty disney movie she was talking about and have no idea if the comparisons were valid.

So regardless if she should or shouldn't have felt wrath from the wokes, again I have no idea, she had two options really: apologize, bow down to your woke mob overlords and stfu or double down and not give a fuck. She chose to double down hard from what I remember (I guess now she is like tripling or quadrupling or quintupling down) and in that case you have to know that you're going to piss people off. She seems to have thought she was some kind of left youtube version of JK Rowling or Dave Chappelle (ironically people she probably REEE's over endlessly) and could be some uncancellable badass or some shit. Now she's seeing that's not the case on the rainbow bird app, unlike them though, she doesn't realize Twitter isn't a real place, so she's doing the "I'M LEAVING" post that has been pathetic since I was posting on vbulletin forums when I was like 12 years old. And I should add, again she's not really cancelled lol, cancel culture is real for some, but not even close to real for her.

The last thing that really is just weird to me is her need to blame it on white cis men somehow. Let's just assume for a second that there is inequality in a traditional corporate setting (more white hetero male CEOs, white hetero males earn more money etc.) and it's not based on merit, I'm not here to discuss whether that's true or false, but let's assume it's true. That still has nothing to do with Lindsay Ellis or where she derrives her income. She makes her money from posting hour long videos about The Little Mermaid, being not a cis white male is an advantage in her line of work (Not to mention she has another tremendous advantage by having been on the platform very early thanks to the evil white man) so like wtf is she complaining about? She is like an ultimate parody of a pathetic white woman crying victim. Her Karen behavior calling the manager on twitter users is pretty much proof that the entire woke thing is a grift for her. So it has put her in the weird place where people are laughing at her for being cannibalized by her own, while people on the left (and not the unhinged twitter mob) are seeing her for the full of shit fake persecuted white woman that she is.

The craziest part is, I know content creators, who are much smaller than her, who make a nice living off of youtube/patreon without even using twitter, some of them were legitimately banned/de-platformed by twitter. She could have legit just deleted her account (or paid one of her beloved employees to run the account for her), stayed on IG or whatever to promote her shit and still raked in 6 figures every few months, but no, she has been destroyed! (Still remain subscribed to her contentless patreon though paypigs because she guilted you with a sob story about employees she didn't even give enough of a fuck about to warn before posting her quitting thread.)

I'm now annoyed that I made this long ass post, but something about her really rubs me the wrong way, even more than her other breadtube content cohorts that you'd think would be equally annoying.

Honestly though, after typing this all up I'm starting to lean that she might legit have got some other deal on the table (some behind the scenes legacy media shit as others have alluded to) and she's just trying to go out playing the victim. But I honestly can't really tell with this persecution complex ridden unstable white bitch, especially when you never know if she did all this while on some type of bender lol.

I'm going to power level here but here is what I have noticed about Ellis. She is like many Far-Left Wing progressive women from bumfuck Red States. She hated growing up in a rural Red State. She longed to move to the progressive paradise. Where all the trends, intellectuals, enlightened and beautiful people dwell. California or New York. Fair point and it was the early days too. I am just amazed that it seems like everyone but his brother, Brad, and Guru Larry (who was never even a part of the community so he doesn't count) were so willing to throw him under the bus.
