I couldn't have said it any better. The guy wasn't interesting enough for me to watch him on Timcast most of the time, but after he freaked out on Sydney I just wanted to see how deep the rabbit hole went.
I also agree with conservatives needing to not accept people like this, but they really have spent so long being an exclusive club that they just don't have recruitment options anymore. It's just too easy to weasel your way into conservative groups because there hasn't been any new blood in them for so long and most of the talking points have been around for so long that they are formulaic.

To go that direction you need to have something to lose. Jack didn't exactly have much of a reputation to start with.
