General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

She and her mom has that “no accent” English typical found in east coast when they still have those call center etc. Based on her last name and unconfirm appearance, I’ll say she’s more Mediterranean that lean toward Italian, or Greek descent. Hispanic maybe but more Portugal.

Maybe her family is Greek immigrant and her choosing a shark avatar with Greek theme is just cherry on cake. Ame probably has more Hispanic in her blood though her accent has none of those Hispanic bleed over like Ironmouse.
Isn't her last name Howard? How is that Mediterranean?

Well we are talking about her mother. Howard would be her father's last name traditionally.
Howard last name is more Germanic & British but it was her father name not her mom. We are talking about her mom and her heritage (a child takes more gene from mother vs father anyway). Hispanic has a very distinctive English accent (just listen to Ironmouse the most stereotypical Hispanic English accent you can get).

Either way, a trend of corpo chuuba introduce their works to parent (starting with Haachama a few years back) and have their parent make cameo on stream is quite interesting. In the case of Gura, hope there’s no psychopath who recognize her mom voice as some lady live in the neighborhood.

Edit:

Virtual life is a thing now. My long time favorite oshi Nanjono promote some fripside virtual live. (Sad that she’s leaving fripside in order to focus more on solo career even though it’s technically solo in fripside anyway).

I may be stupid here but i thought her mother kind of sounded Hispanic, anyone else or am I being dum.
It was a bit hard due to the audio being shit but she sounded more italian to me than anything.

So far we've got
- eastern seaboard jew
- minnie/winsconsinite
- hispanic
Anyone else. Any other selections from those 5 or 6 senteces we got (from face time) of gura's licquored up mom celebrating new year's. I'm gonna go with 1/2 chemehuevi/navajo and Chicago-irish, why the hell not.
An actual shark that learned english from watching mafia movies.

It's happening in general across YouTube, but it's a very real 'issue'.
I remember this happening on the Pippa polls. I don't remember the specific stream (so my numbers might be a bit off) but she would show having about 150 viewers and the Poll would get 280 votes. She contacted Sakana about it. I think the general consensus was that if you had adblocker, youtube doesn't count you as a viewer.

Greek thing would be a nice touch. Going by her name/lastname Ame is partiall hispanic but it seems she doesn't really know spanish hence she doesn't have the accent. Pretty sure Ironmouse was born in Puerto Rico so her first language is spanish hence why her accent is thicker similar to Koefficient.

Pretty interesting statistics, commence numberfagging.

Shion, Ayame and Mel streamed slightly more in 12 months than the HoloX who have only been out for a month and a half. That said looking at Shion and Ayame, their viewers seem to show up whenever they do. I guess it makes every stream they do feel more exclusive and people come to watch.

Kronii and Sana streamed hours seem to have taken a hit from the breaks they took.

Gura is Todd Howard's child.

It was during the Mad Father streams iirc when she first noticed. I seem to recall blowing off work partly to sit around in the chat a bit. It's actually pretty notable so I'd be curious to see if youtube sorts their shit out regarding it, or even if they come out and say adblockers don't count as viewers or something. I'll admit I also don't know how things like holodex works or affects that if at all.

If these sites would make ads less cancerously annoying, unskippable (no I don't care if it's 10 seconds long), and generally twice the volume of whatever the fuck I was watching, I might be able to tolerate turning off blocks once in a while. Twitch is a much bigger offender for this faggotry to be fair. Youtube doesn't tend to fuck up your live stream with ads, twitch will absolutely give no fucks about forcing you to miss whatever you're watching to blow out your eardrums for designated consoomer ad space.

The victim complex from the top poster in this thread :story:

I don't think they know what the word "struggle" means. From their comment about Botan's streams, "struggling to get 6-7k viewers from 10k," they clearly haven't stepped outside Hololive and seen the vast 2 viewers out there. YouTube has always been weird with numbers, from the rrat of shadowbanning subscribers to people using adblocks not counting towards live numbers. Numbers aren't everything, interactivity and the health of the community are more important. Good luck in 2022, happy new years.

I like her singing, she mainly streams gacha games like Arknights and everyone's favorite, Apex

Misumi is currently 18 hours into her Boxman (another Getting Over It type kusoge) run which started on new years eve.

Yeah, not sure mainly streaming those helps 2 views out. If she has a good time streaming those, though, that's fine. Might as well do what you want if the YT algo ignores you.

Why are you posting about a not vtuber in here? (joking) It's good to see not Lulu enjoying streaming after deciding it best to graduate. Her waterfall training vid was pretty funny to see pop up on my subs
E: Apparently / and s together produces a different result

I finally got around to reading https://kiwifarms.net/threads/what-are-your-thoughts-on-the-vtuber-thread.109114/.
The fact that my existence makes some people ass-blastingly-mad, fills me with joy.
@thhrang ain't the only Z-tier celebrity.
It's just a bunch of dudes who masturbate to Chris-chan calling us fags because they think we masturbate to anime. Then there's the self-hating weeb desperately trying to appeal to them as if he's not here all the fucking time.

I think that thread got nuked. Pretty sure it served its purpose and just turned into in-fighting and exceptionalism. I really prefer our sort of pipkin over normies being normies.
Pretty sure that's because it's the New Year subforum, and it's no longer New Year's Day.

Side note but the rrats over Gura's mom's voice are dumb as shit. All kinds of things could be affecting her voice, from alcohol to microphone to call quality to nervousness from being on stream. Could be as minor as she's imitating a TV character with an accent. The ones involving her "death" are even dumber as we have virtually no reason to believe she died in the first place.

Yup. I've been very surprised by the overall health and support NijiEN gets from their viewerbase despite the size and their average number of viewers. If you look at their donations on a stream-by-stream basis, most of NijiEN are actually getting amounts comparable to, shall we say, V-Tubers that this thread doesn't view as people in any immediate financial trouble. Millie in particular is becoming something of a monster in that regard.
