Any news of what Moscow thinks of this? Isn't Kazakhstan pretty much their satellite state? I can't imagine this being good for potassium yield.

Unconfirmed reports of Russian troops amassing on the border to go in under the CSTO

Info is unreliable. However it seems it was part of a last ditch effort by tokayev

You say this in jest but Kazakhstan does a dominant mining export: uranium. They provide something like 40% of the global supply and you can guess what the uranium markets are doing in response to this unrest :story:

As for now: "We won't help military but will send humanitarian help". That's an official position so I wouldn't trust it or to trust it not to change soon.

People have armed themselves with police firearms

Seems like the protestors have given their demandsView attachment 2861481
Withdrawing from all alliances with Russia doesn't seem like a very intelligent demand given their very extensive trade links with Russia, the fact that 1/5 of their population is ethnically Russian, plus their membership in the CiS and Eurasian Economic Union. The free travel between Russia and Kazakhstan has been a major support for the Kazakh economy. Wouldn't surprise me if China takes advantage of this because that's the only other major power within reasonable distance.

Multiple shots being fired around Almaty, KINO warfare ambience. Be safe if you live in the area.
EDIT: apparently there's a little girl that got shot in the foreground, I don't know if you have to spoiler that shit here but I image it's best to stay safe.
