There was never anything to recover in the first place. Nick is just a terminally online NEET who's found a way to titillate the nerd revenge fantasy of other terminally online NEETs with a deliberately provocative message which would alienate just about any normal person. He was never going to build a political movement, and anyone who pretends otherwise is completely delusional.

Nick has nothing to offer the American electorate in terms of credibility. He has no real life experience, no public record of any work history, no understanding of adult relationships, no good political connections, and no demonstrable skills in terms of leadership or judgement (in fact many examples to the contrary). His schtick might resonate with very online teenagers, but in the real world, ordinary working people with mortgages and families are going to take one look at a 23-year-old who has nothing but free time to spend hiding behind cartoon frog avatars on Twitter and dismiss anything they have to say offhand.

In hindsight, Nick's best option would probably have been to find a way to ingratiate himself to the Republican establishment just enough to secure himself a position as a young mouthpiece for some conservative think tank, but now that his reputation is completely toxic, all of those doors are essentially closed to him.

They just want their conservative versions of the social media sites, from which they will also get banned for not being in the club.
