Because:

1. What is the alternative?

The current state of USA (perhaps the whole world) is one both deeply flawed and resistant to change. I'd call it a system. A system giving power to an elite. A system making forbidden yet popular demands impossible to pass through with voters only being capable of swaying the elite slightly to one side or the other.
The only possible solution is to shake it. Trump bypassed the system, a tiny notch. Now Trump is shaking it and it doesn't like it.

This quaker can come from both left and right and simply needs to be capable of both entering the system and not be integrated into it. Trump is currently the only one who fits this title. There is no alternative.


2. Has it really affected anything?
Trump supporters republicans were called fascists by the democrats after the riots. Is that any different from what they were called before the riots?

Everything the democrats have been doing for the last few years is more than tantamount to the Capitol riots, if not FAR worse. Seeking compliance with an opposite hell-bent on NOT doing the same will only go their way.

The reason the system keeps working is because most voters support it to some degree.
