With the fact that McCain abandoned his first wife, who waited for him to come home as a POW, to carpetbag his way into AZ and marry Cindy Hensley, who's daddy was was the only Budweiser distributor in the state of AZ and very rich, and used that money and power to become a US Senator? Or with Cindy being a pill-popping junkie for years? Or... just go read his wiki; it outlines many of the highlights.

But he was a Republican and Arizona (used to be) as red as the dick on a dog, which got him elected. And got him a run for the presidency. But the man was certainly no saint and went full RINO before his death. That changed a lot of people's perception of McCain towards the end.
