Crime Junkies released a podcast last week on the stalking & murder of Mary Lynn Witherspoon. The woman who was raped and murdered by an obsessed man who wanted to literally wear her skin. He stole her underwear, her make up, and basically made this woman live in fear for two decades before murdering her.

So, they start the episode by saying they’re not going to dead name and will use gender neutral pronouns. So it’s a grammatical clusterfuck with using a plural “they/them” and totally dismissive of the torture of this woman. It’s honestly mind blowing how they managed to write the script to almost completely remove pronouns and anything that could suggest Edmonds was male or a man. They don’t even use the name Edmonds - they only refer to him by his last name so as not to “deadname.” They spent most of episode virtue signaling to troons and gender identity. Even their initial soapbox was about how everyone needs to be kind & words can really harm poor troons who are great people.

I wonder how Mary Lynn would feel knowing this man was being described as a woman by outlets covering her own murder. To my knowledge, women don’t brutally and violently rape other women with their penis and then ejaculate on the crime scene.

Crime Junkies has always been super obnoxious and narrative pushing. I only ever listen when I’m scraping bottom of the barrel of shit to listen to. It’s still shocking to hear how bizarre the script is with a complete erasure of basic details and descriptions. Its really Orwellian and unsettling.

Crime podcasts as a whole are fucking infuriating when they get on with that shit. And all it takes is one or two episodes in a row for me to fucking call it. I swear this wasn't an issue 4 years ago.

This is where this wall of silence on questioning identity becomes super fucked up. Even if most trans women are not Buffalo Bill style psychos, this dude manifestly was a literal Buffalo Bill style psycho. How can you pretend that their identification as a woman isn't part of that psychosis? Or that his crimes shouldn't have an effect on whether he gets to transition?

The problem is that any critical examination at all of the trans phenomenon collapses it into a mental illness, from the nebulous abstract realm that it exists in now. If you start actually accepting different causal mechanisms, then you can't claim that it's because of some undiscovered "brain gender" that resists empirical definition. The house of cards falls apart as soon as you look into it. You can't claim trans women are the equivalent of cis women, and point to a specific origin of their GD.

If they start in on how fat and gross your ex is these days, it's okay to make fun of your ex and only your ex for being gross and fat. Because at that point your friend is obviously able to compartmentalize the difference between "my friend thinks ex is a gross slob for letting himself go because he's their ex" and "ex is fat and that's gross which makes me gross because I'm fat".

But, again, with troons you can't ever bring up the subject without being called a bigot. Which is stupid and one reason no one will have sex with them.

What’s even more insane in this context is that Edmond didn’t identify as a woman… he identified as Mary Lynn Witherspoon!

He stole her clothes, her make up. He ordered wigs in her hair color. He changed his license to match her address and was probably trying to take her entire identity when he was caught!

So, should we respect his identity as Mary Lynn? We’lol respect his pronouns, what if he goes the extra ghoulish mile and wants to be called “Mary”? We’re already half way there with this she/her nonsense.

There is another subculture of twitter troons that we don't pay as much attention to here that are less obviously degenerate than the anime-avatar AGPs. The autogynephilia is still there, but part of their fantasy seems to be the attempt to actually "act like a woman" online, which makes it less directly grotesque and more of a slow-burn, uncanny-valley creepiness.
