I think Sam did some shit with the 16 year old, but I also recognize that it was going on a decade ago (if not more, at this point; the 4chan posts from 2015 speak of it as if it was several years prior) and that nothing's going to happen to him.

Even if he admitted it, he'd lose no fans over it and his fanbase would probably think it was pretty based that he was able to psychologically dominate a barely legal girl like that; and since she was 16 in a state where that's the age of consent, the feds aren't going to do anything either; and, if there was CP made, that was probably a dozen hard drives ago, and the evidence is smashed into a million pieces and rusted and corroded beyond recovery at the bottom of some landfill somewhere.

But for what it's worth I think it's more than just internet daddy, there's plenty of those running around and few have discussion around them quite as vitriolic as sam
I think it's a combination of a few things but namely the combination of lots of his fans being autistic dyed-in-the-wool types that associate him with fond 2015-era memories, and the people shitting on sam being equally as spergy.
the sam fanboy brigades are gay and annoying, but they're to be expected, I'd wager half of the spergy fanboys have been following him from platform to platform and are just really committed paypigs that like him telling them the secret to success is to buy etherium and not buy a house (genius), and the other half are just clicking on featured post and defending le based kekistan mass shooter meme man.

To be fair, you have to have a high IQ to understand Sam hyde. The humour is extremely subtle .Without a solid grasp of nihilism most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. Also; I’m kind of disappointed that idubbz didn’t just roll with the punches. Can he not read a room? What the fuck did he think was going to happen. Who does he think Sam is? Did he really, honestly believe that he was going to go out there and Sam was going to give him some close intimate look into his life? Of-course fucking not. Anybody that has any familiarity with Sam would know that’s not going to happen. Shit, his own family members probably couldn’t get Sam to be “serious” for more than 2 mins. However, what he did do was set up this amazing wonderland of weird fuck-upness that Ian could have had a lot of fun putting together a documentary with a running commentary of “was this all an elaborate prank I suspect it was because Sam is quirky like that but never the least I persisted!” And it would have been great for everybody. Good entertaining content they could have shook hands on. But Ian’s approach of having some “real talk” with Sam was never, ever going to work. He should have known that before ever even meeting the dude.

Say what you want about Sam. I’m not the biggest fan. But he’s EXACTLY what you expected him to be. And he provided exactly what you expected him to provide for a documentary.
