You know, I was active on that site for like 13 years and I still don’t know how you actually get a gang tag. I saw a few “post here for a gang tag” threads but, idk, there’s like a thousand different ones and I have no idea where the majority of them came from.

A mod can give you one if you ask when they say "I'm giving out this gang tag who wants it"

Like for example, AxeManiac was overhyping the hell out of Duke Nukem Forever when it was it was actually confirmed to finally come out, so in anticipation, he gave out Duke's Bros gang tags in the DNF thread to anyone who posted and asked. Later on, after DNF came out and it turned out to suck, he quietly changed them to Serious Sam's Club, which is where that tag came from.

Gangtags back then were actually somewhat novel and only a thing that FYAD-lites did. These days, mods pretty much hand them out like candy.

I think mods don't hand them out that much, people just buy them. You first buy a gang tag image as an avatar to get it stored on the SA server, and then others can insert it as their custom title using img tags (paying five dollars for the privilege each time they want to change it).

It's an ass-backwards way to do it, of course. Gang tags are retarded, but autists love flair like that and are willing to pay for it, so they could implement an actual system for them. But that would require work, so it's a no-go. The only new thing they've implemented in the almost two years since Jeffrey owns the site is a dark mode. Changing some colors in the template was touted as some amazing achievement, so you can see that their level of ambition has not really changed since the Lowtax days.

I remember getting a fighting mongooses one randomly one time because some mod decided to give one to everyone who posted in the Futurama thread. The mods were definitely handing them out frequently at one point. This was back when the Futurama DVD movies were coming out.

There's probably some type of complicated "sexism is power + privilege" flow chart one would use, chick paying a gigolo=ok chick paying chick=ok, but then skin colors of providers and customers and different born-genitals probably work in some way too.

Regular cishet men should probably only pay with no services rendered.
