Couldn't he just preemptively opened the box and replaced the content and then did a "we got scammed!" video for drama? From the little I heard of him he doesn't sound like a guy who thinks that far ahead
I mentioned this earlier but the case he bought was tracked by the Pokemon TCG community with enough scrutiny and precision that even the CIA's glowniggers would hang their heads in shame.
Literally ANYONE who wants to buy a modern Pokemon TCG product at their local Target/Walmart/Barnes & Noble without having to watch a bloated, BO-spewing man-boar and his braindead hoglets buy up the store's weekly stock drop.
I know people need hobbies, but generating calculated outrage over purchasing acres of paper that serve no function and are more valuable than your Earthly existence is probably not the most cost effective way of dimensionally merging with Susan Wojcicki.

The real kicker is that the whole "hobby" bit is just a front for LP, he really only cares about the cash value of said cards. If he was an actual collector he'd be fawning over Base Set in its entirety rather than just focusing on Charizard like another Pokemon-related lolcow I keep track of.
Agreed, I can only hope that this kills the sheer levels of scalping that the modern TCG has been experiencing since late August 2020. I actually LIKE to see TCG products in stores again instead of seeing empty shelves, signs saying that customers are limited to a certain number of products per person, and distributors not being scared shitless of stocking products due to the amount people screaming obscenities at 'em for not stocking a certain product at that particular time.
Yeah these people are fucking parasites. I do t have some sympathy for legitimate collectors within reason. I have a collection of laserdiscs, which are a straight up perishable commodity with disk rot and the degradation of adhesives holding the discs together.
But at the same time I dont really understand this whole thing. So in that article you posted there is one confirmed guy with a box of unopened packets from the first print run right? Some might say he's a collector but if they're just sealed in packets (actually contents unknown if verified as legit) and not in some kind of display then they're really just a store of value, ready for upselling later on.
Its awful when these people commodity what could just be an occasional hobby that should be realms of people making an average wage.

Some people do collect sealed products but I usually see it for the more flashier (and more recent) promo box products, I personally don't get why people would collect sealed booster boxes unless they're treating it like an autistic form of gold bullion.
As for those who say Logan's a collector all I really have to say just pay attention to some of his recent fights and ask this simple question: What Pokemon card is featured on that gaudy piece of man-jewelry he's wearing around his head like a noose?
I dont really care about Logan Paul specifically but it's always a good thing when the collectable grifters get exposed for the frauds and money hustlers they are.
You'd think after that whole thing he would change in some way to be more modest and less of a douchebag, but he still appears to do it by buying $3.5 million worth of Pokémon cards, and I think it's hilarious how virtually no one is feeling bad for him in any way.
Why is this featured? Do people really care about how this guy mismanages his money? like to the point of sadistic joy at his stupid blunders. Kiwifarms seems like it's always walking the tightrope of obsessive weirdoes and just having a good time laughing at "exceptional individuals"
A paycheck and the assumption that it wouldn't really effect them much in the long run. I'll admit that I'm not familiar with the situation at all, but the video felt very Kardashian.
All that money could have been spent raising a family and giving something your grandkids could live off of. And this guy spends it on children’s trading cards.
absolutely love the fact that they were GI Joe cards all along. i really, really hope this isnt staged. 3.5 million is pocket change to this guy but he still could have bought a new bugatti with that or something. maybe he will keep making irresponsible decisions and burn through a good chunk of his finances
Logan got scammed out of $3.5 million on some rare Pokémon cards:
The box was gutted and refilled with GI Joe cards. A company that specializes in reviewing vintage trading cards, the Baseball Card Exchange (BBCE), was initially brought in some time ago to verify if the boxes seemed legit, which they believed to be the case at the time. Though after further speculation, they opened the box to reveal the contents being a total sham.
Unsurprisingly, the BBCE's reputation took a massive hit from this massive blunder. It's a really bad look to say the least, considering their business was all about verifying expensive cards for collectors to purchase.
They tried to address the fallout on Twitter, though it hasn't gone over very well, considering various Pokémon nerds debunked the box's authenticity from their own rooms while an "expert" miserably failed to verify it in-person:
Assuming this was the same guy, Logan's "card dealer" has been called out in the past for being super sketchy with some of the deals he's made in the past. This was not the first time this guy has sold a tampered box to some interested collectors.
I recommend reading through this short thread from last year for some additional context:
Next time Logan wants to throw so much money away on something so fucking stupid, maybe he should consider throwing what he has left off of a warf and into the ocean. Personally, I've zero sympathy for Paul. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
