I'm on quite a few progshits' mailing lists. Every time they mention primarying Manchin and replacing him with a DSA member who probably couldn't find West Virginia on a map I smile at the thought that these people might eventually end up running the Democrat Party.

Doesn't matter how blue, you run someone cause every dollar spent on a "safe" election is one that is not spent at a chance election. Poll watches and running some one every where was the Project Virginia strategy and it seemed to work gang busters.
I kind of with the rest of the GOP establishment would use their model cause if NJ did it at the same time I think it would have turned completely red.

Obama's election and re-election was supposed to be the beginning of the Progressive Thousand Year Reich. Hillary was supposed to cement it.

It worked magnificently and the scorched earth political ruthlessness that they constantly advocate for on Twitter is without a doubt the way out of the disgusting abyss we're in as a nation. It's going to take a huge amount of prosaic hard work over a long period of time, but the proof is in the pudding. If the Democrats are fought tooth and nail for every elected office and on all of their poisonous bullshit at all times and without mercy, they can and will be scoured from their positions of power. What happened in Virginia is a genuine ray of hope. Of course, the GOP officials they elected actually have to follow through with good governance, so we'll see what happens.

Well I guess Marshall took that personally because he wrote up and is planning to introduce what he calls the "FAUCI Act", which would require the Office of Government Ethics to host the financial records of administration officials on their website and also provide a list of people whose financial records aren't public.

everyone I know in west coast tech has gone some level of insane, with the exception of the only person I know in west coast tech who is married with kids. he's ok but planning to leave. everyone else is severely mentally unwell.
(they weren't super sane before lockdown of course)
the difference between these people and the people I know back east is unreal.
an extreme example: I have a long term e-acquaintance on the east coast who is a fat activist and whose entire social circle is made up of people who have to buy two seats on planes and can't ride together in elevators. this social circle is the only group of people I have any level of personal connection to who actually got hit hard by covid. people got very, very sick and even died.
But I had regular chats with this person about my skepticism about covid, and likelihood that it came from a lab, and concerns about looming vaccine mandates, and the way this all seemed to me to be a sneaky way to condition people to digital passports and social credit scores. And we had normal, friendly disagreements.
Meanwhile the people I know on the west coast, actual longterm friends, not e-friends, were literally reeing at me in conversation over the most minor deviations from the script. Actual shrieks and pounding on tables.
So my fat friend dealing actual serious illness and death is capable of acknowledging that everyone doesn't have to agree on everything.... meanwhile someone working from home with no money worries who knows *zero* real life covid cases can't tolerate a discussion about how bad online school is for kids.
Like I said these people were pretty fucked up going into 2020 but wow I don't think some of them are ever coming back now.

We're rapidly approaching a critical time where the evil fucks who wrought immense destruction to so much are going to try and just wash their hands of responsibility and walk away from it all. This probably isn't the best thread for such a discussion, but there really does need to be serious accountability for what happened these past two years. Countless lives were turned upside down by the incompetent mistakes and willful cruelty of "leaders" all over the world at all levels, both in and out of government. They need to be made to answer for it.

They delude themselves to such an extent, but the truly infuriating part is the knowledge that TPTB could come out on stage tomorrow and announce it was all overblown bullshit and covid is just the common cold etc, and they'd be divided between groups who refused to believe it and clung to the fear based panic and groups who shrugged and said with a smile, "well, I was just trying to be a good person and save lives, isn't that what counts?"
I've already seen it to some degree among NPCs, sharing similar memes - "if it turns out none of this helps, I'm still glad I wore my cuckmask 24/7, because that means I care"
A lot of them have underlying authoritarian dreams and just want to feel superior, a lot of them got an ego boost from all the asspats they get for going along with the parroted lines, and yet more of them are honestly fucking hooked on it because they feel as though their blind willingness to shove experimental chems in their bodies and wear a mask and give up any semblance of normal life makes them a better person.
