I'm actually not opposed to this in principle. it makes sense for a long term resident of a city to be able to vote in municipal elections while not being able to vote in state and federal ones. I also don't really care if it's officially banned because I can also see arguments against it. It's not a new concept though.New York City just openly admitted it; non-citizens can vote in city elections in what the MSM calls "landmark legislation."
That's 800K potential new voters in municipal elections. So if you think a Republican is ever winning a municipal election in NYC again, dream on.

Women had state voting rights in some states before we had federal voting rights, and this was one of the major steps towards women's suffrage. So on the one hand, allowing limited voting rights has historically led to greater ones; on the other hand, women were able to vote in state elections, not municipal ones, and most importantly were able to vote for electors whereby women voters already were directly affecting the presidency. That's probably not something any state is likely to try for noncitizens although who knows what CA will do.

Story is 2 days old but this isn't getting talked about as much as it should be: The Department of Human Health and Services is going to stop releasing daily Covid death counts on Feburary 2nd. Hospitals have been told that they won't be required to report daily deaths to the government after that date.
