The mere fact that those rights were enumerated in the Constitution does not make them rights if they cannot be exercised.
Case in point were voting rights, where the mere act of registering people to vote put one in danger of physical violence often with the cooperation of local law enforcement. Other issues were similar to literacy tests to vote.
The reason why I am against these policies is that I view the Constitution and it's rights holistically. The restrictions of one right can and will be used to restrict another. As an example, take a look at the arduous process it takes to get a CCW in NY state and NYC. Arguably, the processes in place are similar to the restrictions placed on Blacks in the 1960s.
A right that is not or cannot be freely exercised is not a right at all but merely words on paper.

Well.. I can't blame the system for the personal flaws MLK engaged in and continued to throughout his rise to fame. So much so that I've heard personal stories of grandparents and uncles not following a man of the cloth due to them personally seeing his rampant infidelity.
MLK pushed for the current system. You judge the tree based on the fruit. His fruit was bad. We don't get where we are today without MLKs ideas. You can argue they've been twisted and corrupted which is true but the seeds of said corruption where in what he pushed for.
More importantly than that, you should read Booker T. Washington's auto biography Up From Slavery then read W.E.B. du Bois' Souls of Black Folk and The Talented Tenth. The issues and themes of black people are not new and have been the same since slavery ended. MLK was more in line with Du Bois' pov and the saddest thing for black people, in my opinion, is Booker T died way too soon and Du Bois got to be a founding member of the NAACP and his ideas have carried on for 100+ years.

I would agree if this was simply a dispute over some obscure tax or something where everyone involved was acting in good faith, but it's not. At all. These school officials are openly stating that they are going to intentionally inflict suffering on school children as part of a show of political defiance. They are also openly disregarding the will of Virginia voters. Engaging in some drawn out civil litigation is insufficient. This must be dealt with harshly and quickly. It is precisely because Republicans have refused to act ruthlessly towards Democrats that we are in this fucked up mess as a country. Scorched earth.
