PCOS can cause women to grow facial hair, and packing on all those pounds tends to obfuscate gender. (This is probably at least in part why she identifies as "genderqueer".) Since we have quite a few accounts from people who knew her before all this bullshit, we'd probably have heard already if she was a he.

I can't find a link right now, but I vaguely recall her saying she grows her facial hair deliberately. Probably to ~subvert~ gender roles and beauty standards like a good little Tumblrine.

She does seem to have thick, dark hair so she mught be naturally very hairy, but the unibrow and neckbeard are definitely a choice.

I think she might suffer from Hirsutism. From the Mayo Clinic:

Hirsutism can be caused by:

She is bizarre, not just in terms of her back story, but that's what I'm confused by: a relatively normal teenager until a psychotic episode triggered by acid and shrooms? Am I understanding that right? It's not like there's not a precedence for that happening, especially with how much she was partying at a young age, but boy, that's a hell of a 'don't do drugs' scare campaign wrapped up in one person.

There's gotta be a little more to it, and I suppose it doesn't matter but now I'm curious. She's obviously got some serious physical health concerns going on, and the PCOS or whatever it might be aside, her facial structure is pretty....unique. The story is weird - not saying it's untrue, just weird.

ETA: Incidentally, I realize I read some of this person's previous blogs, probably in or around 2007, before the story fell apart. I was writing something that incidentally touched on autism activism, but that tangent turned out too unrelated to the main thing and was discarded.

Beat me to it. PCOS's facial hair pattern is pretty recognizable, and is often found in obese women and can be linked to diabetes.

Her obsession with her dead father actually made me a little sad at first, "aw, she wears her dad's old clothing, that's kind of sweet" until I read that poem. Waaaay too sexual to just be a mourning thing.

I haven't found yearbook pictures, but her 2007 video about being nonverbal is still up and she looks ever-so-slightly more normal. As in, she's still a morbidly obese autistic trainwreck, but there's no feeding tube, neckbeard or unibrow.
