I know it’s a truth universally acknowledged that Chantal is a bit nuts. I’d even go so far as to say she’s batshit insane and a whole tub of cringe. Embarrassing herself online has been a consistent theme throughout her youtube ’career’. It’s been a successful strategy and raised her notoriety so high she’s the undisputed Queen of the Deathfats. But anyone who’s spent any time watching her old stuff would agree that current day Chantal is almost unrecognisable from the old Foodie we could barely tolerate. I watch and don’t recognise her, she’s beyond embarrassing cringe and is leaning heavily into serious mental disorder. Just what the hell is wrong with her?
I’m not a med-Kiwi but anyone with eyes can see she’s lost her goddamn mind. It’s hard to pinpoint exactly when the train went of the tracks but certainly around the time of her hysterectomy / Bibi dumping her sticks out. Her absolute hissy fit at having to walk across a car park and her sense of entitlement that such apartments were scruffy and beneath her revealed a side to her that we hadn’t really experienced before - and she’s only deteriorated further since then.
My diagnosis? I know there’s a lot of speculation about various personality disorders she might have but could it be something as simple as the menopause? I won’t sperg on hormones and THC but suffice to say she doesn’t seem to be living in reality at the moment. Compared to previous Chantal’s this is the most delusional I’ve seen her and whilst it’s highly entertaining to watch it’s also a bit uncomfortable too.
I don’t know how this’ll end. There’s so much physically wrong with her that she could go at anytime but my (absolutely fictitious) money is on a psychotic break. She reminds me so much of a neighbour we once had many years ago who had undiagnosed post-natal depression and lost her shit so badly my Mum had to call the doctor and she was taken away. Everyone else could see the crazy except her, and Chinny is acting exactly the same.
So my bet is the Funny Farm, with an outside on a stabbing by / to Nader. All potential end locations (asylum / morgue /prison) will make future livestreams difficult but for the sake of The Farms (and our good friends on Reddit) I hope she’ll find a way. Chantal in all her many forms will be immortalised forever by the internet and maybe one day we’ll get a definitive answer to why exactly she’s changed so alarmingly and to her own detriment. I don’t like current Chantal and I don’t like watching her current story arc. Thankfully it has to end , only question is when and how.
Menopause might contribute to it, but there's a lot more going on here than just menopause.
A lot of people claim that Chantal has changed, and in fact has changed to an unrecognizable degree.
I disagree. I think there are new factors that amplify her myriad mental illnesses. She is who she has always been, only in a very amplified degree.
Part of the reason for this "change" is because she switched from static video uploads to livestreaming hours a day. She could keep herself together enough to gluttonize a cheese graveyard for 20 minutes. Then, she was free to wallow in her filth, pick her nose and scratch her ass all day. Now we get the whole life, not the snapshot. We get to experience the wallowing and disordered thinking and mood swings in real time, and we grow more aware to her utter lack of friends or activity in life. That perhaps creates an illusion of a dramatically severe dissipation, when in fact it had always been there "behind the scenes"
That said, I believe the amplifying factors include:
YouTube itself giving her a spotlight
Declining health
Constant and chronic THC usage
Sporadic cocaine use
Zero human interaction except for Peetz, which is near-zero
Appalling diet and malnutrition
Intense ressentiment and resulting self-abasement
The "relationship" with Nader
Losing Bibi
Financial pressures
All of these have taken her essential core characteristics (sloth, narcissism, ignorance, obsessiveness, filthiness, gluttony, avarice, et. al.) and pumped them up on steroids, making her decline more pronounced.
So I agree that there has been a substantial decline in mental, emotional, and physical ways that are very real. But I don't think she has changed into a new person; she is who she always was but multiplied by ten now. She is the end result of everything that has always been wrong with her.
As for her ultimate fate? All your speculations are always possible; nothing can be ruled out. But life turns out a lot more boring than we like to imagine, and it may just be a slow decline that leaves her gradually faded and incapacitated. If she lives 10 more years, she'll be the same age as lifebyjen. And lifebyjen is approaching the end of the process of checking out of this universe for good.
