"please have empathy that the money that was meant for Japanese animators went to a group of trust fund gender weirdos to make a western cartoon" -Raye Rodriguez

Meanwhile $99 (per episode) budget anime made by japanese animators:

It seems that when it come to drawing and telling stories, Raye uses the same approach as our old friend, Andrew Dobson. That is: copy from Rumiko Takahashi and other old animes without ever understanding what made those works good in the first place.
This is something I've been thinking about recently. I've never seen Utena, but I see the name thrown around as the source of plagiarism an inspiration for various Tumblr tier projects like HGS or Thirsty Sword Lesbians. Sure, lefties love Harry Potter and Steven Universe, but it's Utena and other magical girl shows that they rip off directly.

I'm sorry, but what the fuck does Raye think he's trying to prove with this... attempt, let's call it, at deflection? Budget may excuse the animation (which imo, is no different than most shows animated in Korea over the past decade or so, style not withstanding), but not the shit writing or voice acting.
Well, budget can explain shit voice acting. No money means you can't hire the best. I doubt that's the reason here though, instead I'm sure it's a diversity hire issue.

The writing is what's funny though. "We had a small budget so we had to start storyboarding before the episode was even finished being written".

How does that make sense? You can literally write the entire series before starting to storyboard. This could've been written years ago. Why did it need to be written at the same time it was being drawn? Well, apart from poor time keeping by them and them being crazy lefties who are knee jerk about everything and wanting to rush to everything.

Someone made up this idea, talked about diversity and being gay, company threw money at them and they rushed head long into it because it was the hot issue in 2016/2017. Somehow for them being SOOOO rushed they couldn't do re-writes it took until the end of 2019 for it to be made with it being like 10 episodes long. It took them nearly 2/3 years to do a 10 episode show that they were writing and drawing at the same time to have finished quicker.

Bullshit.

A few things that stuck out to me:

1.) "That's not how pitching works."
Then where the hell was the pilot Raye? Where did everything in the trailer come from? If your team was under such unbearable crunch over the last...I'll assume year, 2 years in production, how were they also somehow still working on the show when it was first announced and had concept art, character design, cleaned-up background sketches, and other early production work done all the way back when the trailer dropped? Although, hey, maybe they're also having budgetary issues because...

2.) "We literally started storyboarding the first episode before the first script was even finished."

Why.
WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU DO THAT!? :stress:

Is that why the first episode feels so clunky and is filled with so much shot-reverse-shot and static poses when there's no dialogue? Because the storyboarders only had loose scribbles to work with? Sweet Christ, it all makes sense now.

For those not privy to how animation works, even on a fundamentally basic, common sense level:
That'd be like if I tried to build a car without the blueprints from the guy who designed it. And when I ask the guy for them out of frustration, he tells me it's not done yet and instead gives me their sketchbook and told me to make it with that until he's finished. I mean, sure I could try to make it on my own and it'll definitely be...something resembling a car, but it ain't gonna be the car you asked for. Cool that you got me the blueprints finally; still ain't gonna do jack shit to fit with this fucked-up waste of metal you call a vehicle.

That's not even taking into account if Raye's talking about the finished script being completed or the first script being done. As in the first draft. Because if it's the latter, I might just have a stroke from the sheer incompetence of this whole thing. You can't just rely on all your storyboarders to carry your story for you, that's not their job!

This isn't Steven Universe where they're more heavily involved in the creative process; your boarders can only do so much! But fuck them I guess; they had a small budget and that's why it sucked. Couldn't be anything else, having to do with you or your writing staff making more work for them by having them build a story based on notepad scribbles. No sir. That'd be stupid.

And 3.) Just: fantastic, absolutely phenomenal job badmouthing your employer out in the open about the horrible crunch your team underwent like that to dissenters who already hated CR. Surely that will get you that coveted second season and won't launch Crunchyroll into a PR shitstorm after they already had to deal with the previous PR shitstorm that was your show.

Just a bang-up job, Raye. You absolute legend.

Wuh oh, looks like someone's lithium wore off! What happened to the Raye who went on /co/ to trollshield by acting all smug and coy and posted tweets mocking haters?

Fuck off with the "wahh like my show because i worked so hard on it" bullshit. If you make a bad show, own it instead of going "YOU HEARTLESS BASTARDS ARE STOMPING ON MUH DREAMZ!!"

Westerners can't into accepting faults, Keiji Inafune took full responsibility for MN9's failure and didn't beg for anyone to show him "empathy" for an undercooked product.

Maybe she just received an email from CR stating that they won't renew HGS for a second season and she's angry that she won't get to use it as a springboard to pitch her new uke-seme bishie fetish show "concept", so she's just going "fuck it" and kamikazeing any chance at having an audience that would respect her.

Looks like Raye is in the second stage of denial, anger. Most likely the faggot realized that HGS will be the peak of their career, and is angry that it only became...whatever that thing was. A shit that is remembered for being shit is way better than a shit that is forgettable. And that's the extent of what HGS is, a forgettable crap

Raye's was promised something big, something like "an anime from their own work". But when it came out worse than even a dud, Raye went into a denial mode, focusing on other works to distract themselves. But deep down Raye knew HGS will always be the ghost, that baggage of their career, the blight on their name. And now Raye is trying to cope with it

Edit:
Oh, and know what's the worst part is? Nobody, and absolutely nobody, cares about HGS even after it came out. Yes, even those who defended it years ago, those who are curious about all the fuss and the delay, none of them care in the slightest about HGS now. Only those who hated it and Raye did, and people like us who are in on the drama. No one else

The deflection is to add another reason why criticism of the show is actually bad faith alt-right monsters, not anyone who could have a real reason to think the show could be improved. Basically, it's just another in a long list of a way 'get woke, go broke' hires have of claiming that everything that is wrong with what they produce is not due to their lack of talent.

Nothing is ever their fault and it's never that they're not as good as they think they are. They think their talent is unquestionable, so it must be the world that is wrong. But what more can you expect from dangerhairs and troons? They all think that. So all they have are excuses as to why each failure can't be because, in reality, they're just not very good at what they're trying to do.

Using the budget as an excuse for sucking is a baffling one.
Because like, I watched stuff like Digimon. That was pretty low on the budget scale and the staff knew they couldn't really match Pokemon's monster fights. What did it do? They focused on the writing, made the kids and villains have depth to them, and hey, it became a good show.

HGS, on the other hand, just feels like there was largely nothing in terms of unifying direction or leadership to it.
...I mean with the actual main plot and characters, not from the Professor Insert and the Glass Wrist Wimpy Kid.

HGS's first trailer came out in Aug 2018 with detailed background art, storyboards, someone in the booth voice acting apparently, full character model sheets, etc.

It was finished production in Autumn 2019. That's what? At least a year, possibly longer? And that was after all that work that was already done.

The show was 12 episodes long and looked like shit most of the time. They showed all the best looking scenes in the trailers because half that shit was shot reverse shot. So it took them at least a year and what, a half? Maybe two full years for 12 episodes. So they had plenty of time for the show, Raye is trying to claim they literally were crunching too much and didn't have time for rewrites and had to write at the same time as storyboarding. Bullshit. My Little Pony Season 1 finished in like May 2011 and Season 2 began in September 2011. In 10 months they cranked out 26 episodes.

The issue wasn't the budget. The issue was the management. When your main boast is you hired diversity and half your staff are women and all of the people on the writing team were women, that's the issue. You didn't hire for professionalism or talent, you hired to point score.

This is like what happened to Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Because of the writers’ strike, scenes were filmed before any dialogue was written/set in stone, and well, look how that turned out.

At least that had a reason. This was like they had the very bare bones of the show, aka "Young girls being fierce" to quote them. Then they got into a writers room with 10 SJW women and tried to hash out ideas.

The problem with diversity hires and it being an SJW mess is that each of those weirdoes will have wanted something different for their own agendas. I'd have paid to sit in and just listen.

Writer 1: "So, episode 1 should feature our main character training to beat the current champion but failing."
Writer 2: "Um, it might not be a good idea to show her training. It could be ableist and triggering for some of our viewers who can't exercise."
Writer 1: "Oh...yeah, that makes sense. Well, they could...."
Writer 3: "Also, we don't want to make exercising seem TOO important. She should be happy with her body size. Maybe she should be a BBW to really make that point."
Writer 1: "Um...maybe. Really she should be wanting to beat the current champion though..."
Writer 4: "The champion should be a male and she shouldn't need to train to beat him."
Writer 1: "Oh, well, I was going to have all the champions be women. You know, a reversal of..."
Writer 2: "Make them a TERF then. And have her kill them."
Writer 3: "Rape them."
Writer 1: "But they're a girl..."
Writer 4: "So? They rape her with their girl dick."

Like I can cut some slack if it's for animation issues that the budget screwed them on since animation is a tricky process. However, to blame literally everything on the budget is retarded since there are cheaper shows out there that have better writing than High Guardian Spice. Hell writing should not be attributed to money issues as writing is dependent on the quality of the work compared to animation where it can be easy to screw up if the funds for it are low.

I just have to point to these two tweets from earlier that fucking blows Raye's complaints out of the water and prove that she's a jealous, salty bitch.

NOT ANIME.png

First off, she admits it's a cartoon and not an anime, so WHY THE FUCK is it on an ANIME-STREAMING platform, you dumb bitch? You want to know why it bombed so hard? You targeted the wrong audience who told you from day one it had no reason being on Crunchyroll. Western cartoons don't belong on Crunchyroll. Not even Castlevania is on there even though people (wrongly) claim it's an anime.

ONYX.png

Good job revealing that Onyx Equinox is the superior show because I guess it took the entire budget that should've gone to your pwecious qweer show. Or maybe it's because it's super obvious OE is a true passion project that had a lot of time (i.e. years) and effort put into it.

That's why she wanted a crossover to happen with this show before, because they're apparently "sister shows", However, pointing out the better show in a thread where you're literally crying your show has been critically torn apart and most likely also unrenewable just further proves you're incompetent but also a pain in the ass who'll find herself blacklisted like Kate Leth and John Kricfalusi due to being insufferable to work with if she keeps this up.

Though comparing her to Kricfalusi is bad optics, because Kricfalusi is an actually talented cartoonist who fucked himself over for being a creep. Fucking yourself over for being a petty liable bitch so soon out of the gate will look super amazing on your résumé, sweetie. And good riddance to bad blood.
