General GunTuber thread

  • 🔧 At about Midnight EST I am going to completely fuck up the site trying to fix something.
The thing is that Leftoids are repulsive, inhuman creatures who are entirely undeserving of rights and don't have the balls(increasingly quite literally) to do anything besides rioting and a murder or two. Meanwhile Qanon lunatics are winning local election after local election and the wider GOP is working on stealing/subverting all future elections and they won't do shit about it besides seethe on Twitter about Democracy dying. Jakarta is coming for them all and they all deserve everything that is coming to them, they have brought it upon themselves. The right will prevail because we are ballsy and don't give a fuck.
Yeah that’s true.

It wouldn't surprise me if at least Karl has gotten blacklisted from ShotShow at this point.
Considering his stance on (by which I mean how he lost his mind about) the 'rona it might be that he just didn't want to go. Lots of people in there, and spoopy Omicron is still going around.

Who knows, we might still get a video from him. He didn't specifically mention not going, did he?

Man, Forgotten Weapons really seems to be running out of material. It's a shame, because I love starting my morning with Gun Jesus Storytime.
Hopefully he can cover some non-forgotten weapons. I think it would be nice to just have some good Ian vids on the basic A1, A2, M4 carbine development, etc...

There is only so many firearms in the world you can cover, unless he somehow get's futuristic experimental weapons to make videos with.

He's doing highlights from SHOT Show this week.

I personally think Ian should post once a week or maybe even 2 weeks. He's just pumping video after video and that's how he'll run out of content, and I genuinely don't mind waiting a week or 2 for some unique and informative videos about some obscure firearm during a certain era.
He recently cut back to fewer videos a week, and one of these videos will be some sort of commentary/analysis video. So I guess he agrees with you. Getting access to well-preserved old guns he hasn't covered yet must be getting difficult.

LOL no.

The only people I’m aware of that have actually gotten banned from SHOT Show were for conducting sales without being paid exhibitors, criminal conduct (convicted felons can still attend), and over the top drunk/disorderly stuff.

Karl did specifically mention not going yesterday. It’s not a great venue for generating any kind of thorough content.

Officially show attendance is down 50% to 30,000 people and many vendors backed out. Unofficially people I know that are there say it’s probably even lower. The pandemic has been the catalyst for companies realizing that maybe spending all this money without definitive ROI isn’t really worth it. Sig published it would have cost them $1million to attend + the potential cost of hundreds of employees coming home sick and potentially disrupting production further. People out sick hurts the bottom line.

There are a lot of other ways to spend advertising dollars in the age of the internet with more definitive ROI. Exhibitors cannot sell goods on the floor, only take orders. This hurts direct ROI assessment and limits overall sales because people can’t leave the show with your new widget.

Personally I’ve gotten sick 15/19 times going. A few of those times were really bad. Combine that with the waning business value and expense and I simply don’t enjoy or look forward to going. This is the first time in 20 years I haven’t gone.

C&Rsenal’s model seems to work pretty well for this. Longer form detailed videos every couple weeks or so, and a short vignette every few days. I’m sure Ian has a bunch of extra background info on the firearms he covers, and could easily ramble on in longer, less frequent videos.

If your rifle is freezing, you have bigger issues than fighting…
I've seen other people's hunting rifles that weren't maintained well freeze on trips that weren't even particularly uncomfortable. Around here you can't use shitty oil or it'll gum up in the cold, but you have to use some oil because otherwise all the humidity and moisture will condense and freeze in the gun.

I genuinely can't understand why people insist in trying to mix their coom material with their gun material. Like, even if I'm watching a woman doing a presentation on guns, I'd rather she was sensibly dressed. I've seen what happens when brass lands inside a cleavage.
There was a gun incident where an onlyfans thot shot herself in the pussy with a gun while making a video. If that isn't the peak mix of the two I don't know what is.

THere are, unfortunately, only so many guns. Really the final frontier for Ian at this point is Russia since that's pretty much the one country he hasn't been able to really get into their museums but I highly doubt that he's gonna get the proper permissions due to world politics.
