Isn't there a study or something that shows that on average a nation lasts around 200 to 400 years before massively shrinking in size and power or outright collapsing and ceasing to exist?
its more of a changing the parameters to fit the graph sort of situation there. like you can't really say the post-civil war, one party US was the one the founding fathers intended a century earlier, nor could you say that republicans in the 1920s could see 2020s US and see it as the same nation.
Empires, definitely, don't know about nations per se.
I will say that I've been following the
Fall of Civilizations podcast recently, and some of the parallels are...eerie.
like i said changing definitions, who's to say when Rome fell and if dictatorship renewed its lifecycle, the Roman capital was sacked 800 years after its founding but its empire somehow only lasted 250 years?
Same with our friends in the UK, or Ottoman Empire. We're supposed to believe the UK "empire" started with the Fall of Cromwell?
Same with Spain, its empire started in 1500, and ended in the 1590s with it losing to England/Netherlands, but somehow "actually....." spain lasted to 1750, despite that being 30 years after a massive war about which european country would get to rape Spain?
You could see similar "the end is near" academic bullshit with the same shifting definitions in the 1970s for the US and 1890s for Europe.
I'll do you one better. Biden is ET. He will change American politics. But not for good reasons.
I guess that makes Hunter Biden, Dave. "I love you whores"
