All I can think of is the kitchen could have been wired for an electric stove originally (maybe the plan was to get actual utility power) or the tradesmen just put it in as standard. So there could be a 240V cable there with bare ends, never used or connected to anything at the panel.Wait, why do they have 240 volts going to a propane stove? Isn't it gas? You would just have 120 volts to run the clock, ignitors, and valves. You don't even need power if you use a pilot light, and you don't even need a pilot light if you use matches
