Up until last night I was sort of giving Chantal the benefit of the doubt.
If he’s telling her he loves her behind the scenes, and allowing her to sleep there and have sex, sure, I can see her being confused about his true intentions.

But last night was just unhinged.
At one point when she was gazing adoringly, and terrifyingly at her living room tv, reacting to Nader’s live, she just shouted, “SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!” out of nowhere. It was truly maniacal.
She was so angry, but her eyes were twinkling having this one way interaction with him.

I‘m only at the part where she drives to his house, but I can see teenage Chantal in all these actions.
You know, the one who had to be giving a restraining order by sone boy’s parents.

She would absolutely fake a suicide attempt if she thought Nader would react. She knows well enough he wouldn’t though, and she might risk having to put up with her family intervening at that point, in a situation she feels like she has under control.
