RWBY - The Hindenburg on which Rooster Teeth rests its hopes, dreams and future

I think fanfiction has them beat on making it better. Couer Al Aran is considered the best.
Well it's because the most popular rewrites are written by spergs who can't write for shit and feel the need to one up M&K in terms of galaxy-braining. Then there are the rewrites themselves which don't really fix the issue in current RWBY and just add unnecessary problems to the already grandiose trainwreck.

FRWBY - has more bloat and plot retardation than current RWBY and celtic thinks that giving extras and side characters major character arcs is good writing. Also I dare not thread the grounds within CelticPhoenix's magical realm.

RWBY:ALT - fixes what is not broken and makes everything 10x more convuluted than original. Is more of a bad GoT fic than it is RWBY.

MuffinManDan RE:RWBY - more occupied on fixing the worldbuilding which is again, not broken, than bother fixing with the plot and characters which are the main issue.

Can't say I'm surprised, but as long as he hasn't posted real child porn, I'm not going to beat him over the head with it.
Oh, that reminds me, once an actual admitted pedo got kicked from that discord. According to a former mod, the dude was in a voice call and straight up admitted he would date a girl regardless of age, as long as they were "mentally mature." People asked if he was joking, and he was being dead serious. When the mods had to vote whether to kick him, Raymond abstained. The vote did go through, though, and the guy was kicked. Raymond gave him quite a warm farewell, with as light language as possible.

His concern was more about the server's "legal standing" than possible danger towards the minors in the server. The mod I know also refutes the second point, saying it absolutely wasn't "in jest" (ugh, the way this guy speaks). It "was not an easy decision" somehow.

If Remnants ever actually gets anything done, you'd be able to add it to the list. It's another worldbuilding mess, just focused on how cool and convoluted it can be. The head writer is one of those "I have a fantasy novel with 200k words of lore" types.

I know Fixing RWBY and Celtic Phoenix aren't going to get threads anytime soon, but I think that they can at least get a funny subtitle that threads have because holy shit we have some doozies.

Ok, what? Why treat this situation like the guy just linked to anime piracy site or something? Like WTF? Guy admits that he'd happily sleep with any female, no matter the age, as long as she was "mature" enough, and this is your response? You didn't even vote to kick him out? What is even the reasoning behind this? I mean, at least he didn't vote to let the guy stay, but come on man!

If r/RWBY gets a hold of that info, Celtic is done. They HATE crirics and rewrites.

I'm more surprised that they even held a voting session. Most of the servers I'm in will usually kick self admitted pedos out no questions asked then spread the word to other servers as a form of warning not to take the guy in.

Same. Apparently, the other mod who voted not to kick him was Dashie Li, who thought he could "rehabilitate" him (????!?!?!?!?!?). She was the one who wanted to put it to a vote, and Raymond believed her over the mods who were there to witness what he said.

Also, hot off the presses, Raymond will reserve judgement on the man with hard evidence against him.

You know l, if V5 is any indication, I think Fixing RWBY is working on trying to get added to the OP. But that’d mean having to watch all the other videos and response streams to see if this fireworks display was a sudden thing thanks to V5 or was a long time in the making. And I’m not super into going back and digging at the moment.
Fixing RWBY always had glaring flaws but Volume 5 is really the first time we're seeing massive sweeping rewrites on this level. The other volumes of FRWBY really weren't any better but we have to remember that they also stuck much closer to the source material and so the massive gaping flaws aren't as immediately recognizable, and since the series really isn't interesting enough to merit a rewatch they go unnoticed and/or forgotten.

Also I will never stop laughing about the fact that when Celtic dropped the first Volume 5 video he spoke about how many pages long the script was and it was just a little over 100 pages, he then proceeded to talk about how tiring that was and how monumental an undertaking it was for the team. 108 pages is like one third of the first Harry Potter book, a book written for twelve year olds.

@Rhymes 19 does phoenix have a PDF of all his scripts and rewrites of FRWBY up on the discord? If so can you upload them here? I want to read the entire clusterfuck with my own two eyes.

The full document I have of it puts it at 63,430 words. Which is a lot, like a short novel, but it's also written in a very casual way that makes it easy to pad out. And don't forget, his style uses a lot of extra words and run-on sentences.

So I went back and watched that bit again just to be sure that my ridicule was correct, what he specifically says is "As a consequence the blasted thing is over two and a half times the length of Volume Four's rewrite and clocks in at over 100 pages".

I took a screenshot of that point in the video, assuming that's actually the entire script it's not even 108 pages, it's 103.

103 pages of encompassing major story beats, and not involving exposition or dialogue.

I'm starting to think that Nietzsche would like to have a word with him ... he who fights monsters, I suppose.

After reading the script. It's clear to me that it's pretty much the V5 video word for word and the sole reason why it's even 103 pages long is because it's written like it's going to be published like a book. For anyone who aren't in the know, scripts are not written like this, the goal of your script is to be as comprehensible as possible so the actor/animator/composer can get the gist/idea on how you want to set the scene, this includes the tone, mood, flow, and importance of the scene. You, under ANY circumstances should NOT write it in flowery sentences so it doesn't send in mix signals.

This is how a basic script should've been structured:
Setting
tone/mood

Dialogue and cues (both musical and action)

With How Phoenix wrote it, no one is able to get anything done properly and it's even a miracle that he managed to scrounge up a writing team, composers, and artists into working for him in the first place. This script alone should be proof that FRWBY is a production nightmare.

He's a third rate fanfiction author and he wrote it as third rate fanfiction. It's even funnier because if he had written it as a proper script the general rule of thumb is that one page of script is roughly one minute of screentime and so his 103 page script would have been about 3 1/2 to 5 episodes at most depending on how he cut it up.

I remember him also saying it took him a month to write the outline, and another month to write the actual script, and he would have gone crazy had it not been for the Sketchy Huntsmen, saying he'd be speaking in an unknown language burying effigies of Miles in his backyard.

He did say that, he also stated that the entirety of FRWBY Volume 5 was a four month project.

This statement is fucking hilarious, not in the way he intended it to be but hilarious nonetheless.

Gee, I wonder why it took him and his entire team THAT long...

Well according to him, it's not a script, it's a "narrative essay" or something. It did make composing hard though, because scenes and moods would fly by so quickly and I had to deal with his narrative style. For example, that song "Mountain Lillies" which was posted a couple pages ago has the faster part I'm really proud of, but it couldn't be very long because the fight scene went by so fast.

If you really want to know how bad a writer this dude is, back in 2020, I got bored and wrote the start of a little Pokemon fanfic. I showed it to Raymond, and he disliked it, so he wrote his own version. It's genuinely outstanding how much worse his was. Mine wasn't anything special, but that dude mangled every sentence. It looked like this:
1642774319060.png

I now have a rage response to free indirect narration.

First, I want to clarify I'm not here to indite the guy. I don't think he's malicious, just oblivious. But I want to share my experience of what it's like trying to be friends with and work on a project with someone in this fanbse.

The teenage lesbian obsession is absolutely real. The first time we directly spoke, I was confronting him over posting Lillie/Moon art in his discord. He apologized and explained that it's not a fetish, no, he's interested in the emotional aspect of teenage lesbian relationships, so it's fine. I don't think he's lying, either. When he was recording his V6 reactions, he was really put off by the existence of Jaune's sister as a normal, functional woman who just happens to be married to another normal, functional woman. He tried to explain why it made him uncomfortable, something about how it's too normal compared to the straight relationships or something. After knowing him for long enough, and reading that ridiculous book of his, I think it's more an obsession with supposed special traits of lesbian relationships you see in anime: purity, drama, loss of innocence, that sort of thing. It's odd.

His book is about these hyperdramatic relationships be believes are realistic, just unhealthy. This involves teen girls under 17 getting drunk and having sex and waking up sore the next morning. He does this twice in the novel. Also, one girl becomes a sniper in Iran, where, according to him, they speak Arabic. But I digress.

There's also definitely a regular yuri fetish there. We first met when I was 19, and he was 25. Once, in a stream, he admitted out loud he once had a crush on me. The issue is, during the time I've known him, I've been one of three things: a self-identified lesbian, in a relationship with a man, and in a relationship with a woman. So none of those options are a really good look on him. I'm amazed he admitted it, which goes back to my opening line of thinking he's just inept. I started to turn against him when I read that book, and realized how creepy and bad a writer he really was. I'd been learning from this dude for years, so that hurt.

I'd also been on the receiving end of plenty of inappropriate comments about my relationship. He's called my relationship a "real life coffeeshop AU", "lesbian domestic fluff," and compared it to his favorite Fire Emblem ship, which involved my favorite character and his favorite. Ew. He really just didn't get that I didn't want to be treated like that, and that lesbians aren't some special breed of human.
View attachment 2904289
View attachment 2904293

He even wishes he was BORN a lesbian.
View attachment 2904294

When me and a couple other women finally confronted him about this, he told one of them he didn't think he could cut the lesbian obsession. He didn't understand why it was so unhealthy and off-putting, because to him, it's the same as being a fan of horror movies or foreign films, just a genre of media that someone takes interest in. Except even the best "shoujou-ai" (as he calls it) media is just anime girls flailing around and stammering like morons.

All his favorite shows are things like Little Witch Academia, Madoka Magica, and Wonder Egg Priority, which are all about teenage anime girls, the latter two putting big focus on the drama and angst. He kept trying to push "wholesome" fanart of ships on me, like Marnie/Gloria from Pokemon SwSh, even though I made it clear I didn't care for it. Once he did a writing prompt from a chat we had about a character having a head injury... he still made it about lesbians.

This is what happens when you get too wrapped up in your internet circles. You forget what's normal.
How's this freakshit nigga not a tranny yet?
