General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

The amount of Nijisanji-related discussion appears to have increased considerably.

With that in mind, does anyone have their favourite Niji clips they'd like to share? I'd love to see what all the fuss is about.
I barely watch any Niji clips but this one made me giggle a bit. Mika reminds me of a less-accented zoomer Kiara who is aggressively gay and thirsty.. also over Pomu.

I think the reason why I don't watch Niji is the same as a lot of other posters, I just don't have the time anymore. I'm no longer working from home and I am getting back into watching anime since there are a few decent shows on again. And this is where Niji's gigantic roster works against them in my case. It's like trying to get into American Marvel/DC comics or starting the One Piece anime, it's daunting on where to start and no one has time for that shit. They really should calm down and grow their current talent. There is actually a better chance of me getting into Phase Connect instead of Niji EN.

Plus maybe it's just me but Niji EN are more like normal streamers and more.. zoomer-ish. I like that Hololive seems to have more hags and boomers, I relate better. That's probably why I watch the most Nina Niji clips, the "hi honey" bit has been toned down a lot.

Dunno how i would describe it, just feels like Holos play more into the kayfabe aspect, maybe because they are kept on a tighter leash which im not gonna start debating if it's a good or bad thing. I think in general most people would agree that Holos are more "idoru" than most vtuber productions nowadays, Nijis, specially the JP ones have always had this sense that they were just regular folks, and a lot of them have full time jobs apart from vtubing.
That's fair.

I guess I swung the opposite way where kayfabe burned me out and I started looking for something more casual. At the end of the day, though, both companies are hampered by permissions so both companies end up playing very similar games and usually at very similar points in time (like fucking Kuukiyomi and Twelve Minutes. Kill me), so I guess the difference is how they operate.

Which leads me to...

My problem is that I don't really like the others that much and their are some that just annoy me with every word they say and thing they do, and Niji seems (at least to me) to collab more often than Hololive.
I think that how the companies treat collabs is probably the major difference that snowballs Niji and Holo down separate paths. Equal, but for different types of audiences.

To be honest, I feel like 'collab' is a pretty clunky word for EN V-Tubers to use; especially for something like streaming games, and MOST especially for NijiEN who play together so commonly that the tinge of exclusivity in the word 'collab' is kind of lost. They operate like The Creatures did, or pre-meltdown Achievement Hunter: independent entities, who all have their own projects, but are always fucking around together. Even though the number of members is massive, there's never really an obligation to support more than you can handle, or only enjoy people in collabs etc.

If you can't subscribe to that kind of thing then that's just how it is, but even if you actively dislike some of the members, it's really difficult to ignore that them streaming together as often as they do really has given them some noticeable benefits.

May be a bit more than a clip but this is what I showed a friend when he asked about purple dragon.

The thing is I stopped watching AH when the cast changed and people I didn't enjoy started appearing more frequently because it was harder and harder to watch just the ones I wanted to watch. That's the benefit Holo's more independent channels, if I don't like a certain member I can just not watch that member and collabs aren't too frequent. Both strategies seem to be working out for the respective companies and communities so this no reason to start a dumb tribal war.

Speaking of which sorry for being part of that tribal slapfight that happened back around new years, I can't even recall what set it off.

I seem to recall him saying that he checked out one of the Selen streams. Her birthday stream where they were all together rings a bell.
I did post the 6 months Obsydia anniversary, 200k Petra celebration, and the first Rosemi stream I watched as well.
But talking about myself is faggoty so I'll use this as an excuse to springboard into talking about Pomu karaoke.
While the other EN degens are playing League Pomu has a 3D chibi karaoke with cute choreographs going

Terrific singing. I simp hard for people who can sing this well. Plus the model is freaking adorable and Pomu's mannerism elevate that fact. Favorites I heard were God Knows, Diamond City Lights, Kimi no Shiranai Monogatar, and Dearest.
____________

Collab stream starting soon.

Tbh unless you are a filthy, flea infested, tribalist, i don't know why there seems to be a surplus of posters who seem to want Holo/Niji to be more like the other, imo it's better to have options instead of having the entire industry be the exact same shit.

A good example is the Nijimen, now that Vox and the unfunny dog dude have been successful, i see people going "wow, now Yagoo will definetly need to make StarsEN!" Do we need both sides to copy each other to remain relevant? I think Holo one-upped Niji with EN in general but Niji has always had better males, both have their strengths and weaknesses.

Anyways tribalists deserve to be necked publicly

Google says it is "zero before the end blessed", how wrong is that on a scale of 1 to 10.
It's Ancient Greek for "Don't treat someone as having a life of luck (a good life) before (that person's) end." Used in order to say to not be quick to consider a situation a good one before it's conclusion.

The slapfights are a lot of fun for me. No harm done. 🙏🏻

Operation "Flood The Thread With Nijisanji Clips" has been a resounding success. The pest has been repelled, thank you all for participating.
Sorry but you had BETTER watch my clips. I spent like an hour curating a good batch fit for purpose!

UnluckyCat is being a spaz.
In other news, water is wet.
The cucking endings in NEEDY STREAMER OVERLOAD are hilarious and inspirational:

I co-opted this to make a meme that much more accurately represents the relationship map:

It's a good batch.

Side note:
I'm fairly sure @Tellin doesn't watch enough of vtubers at all, probably spends all his time arguing.

Even hardcore Hololive-only people (there are a lot of those on reddit) have a favourable view of Nijisanji because of Sara Hoshikawa and Inui Toko.
