View attachment 2915271I’m puzzled, seeing the huge mountain of presumably not-required donated clothing in this pic (from some time ago?), versus the latest tweet from TUR claiming that they need specifically more of that kind of thing, but hand knitted.

I’m not even saying there’s a scam or anything, I would just like to understand.
Maybe they are trying to get people bying their shitty yarn? If they were smart, they could make somekind charity knit along or sell yarn with pattern included.

They took some of the donated items for sure and it was shown in my earlier posts on where I highlighted the way that he was talking about the items on his Twitter.

However

He's begging for gas money here... If you remember correctly from the information myself and another kiwi provided their gas should have maybe been under a hundred bucks so they clearly did not make that much money this was a PR trip.

Knitta please

Also for the record we would have absolutely grilled them even if they didn't provide video evidence and just said that it happened (because yes we would have.) But a more reasonable way to prove where money is going would be to have it not be cash and come with receipts for everything including where it was going and who received it etc..... You know the type of thing that actually takes some planning.
There is, in fact, a site for that exact purpose! Total transparency for charity related monetary exchanges.

Now let us think of all the ways the tranch would weasel out of providing such transparency. 🤔

The tranch has made contact with the natives. Even included some free alpaca yarn from their farm. Probably wasn't selling.

This was painfully embarrassing.
The rug yarn isn't listed on their website (which isn't accepting orders "at the moment") and their etsy store is closed. It wouldn't surprise me if Penny's given up trying to sell the yarn - some knitters on here reviewed the yarn (our undercover furry snapped photos of the yarn when they had that stall at DenFur) and found it to be essentially unworkable - besides the terrible quality, it's spun so large that you'd essentially only be able to knit with giant knitting needles ("it's basically rope"). Their primary audience - troons - also generally only purchase novelty merch and won't generally be interested in any crafting supplies.
1629499570545.png

Possibly it's an attempt to get a tax write off by donating crates of unsellable yarn and claiming it was worth $35/skein or whatever (I bet it wasn't even unpacked from DenFur) but I'd be kinda pissed if I was that Native guy - there's loads of alpaca yarn that is useless for anything other than shitty versions of those novelty "giant knit" blankets, assuming anyone there even knits. There seems to be more yarn than Amazon purchases.
The most optimistic I can think of is that jbean is getting the cashapp money because either the two ftms have been banned from cashapp, still have their deadnames on cashapp and really don't want to be doxed, or they owe Jarrod money for something like weed and are covering it up by asking for testosterone.

My least optimistic is that Tempest and Jarrod hooked up. Call the police.

If I was the dude getting help from a man cosplaying as a pink haired dangerhair womanwith a hero complex I'd look the same.
Jarrod seems to be friends with the field serfs, or at least hangs out with them loads (unsurprising as he's not a house troon and does do some actual work). I think it's either a grift or they legitimately need testosterone and they're using his cashapp out of convenience, rather than Jarrod forming a polycule with the FtMs (Jarrod also claims to be gay, or at least "I'm sapphic until I see that a masc grows plants then I might be a bit bi" but at this point attempting to label the trancher's sexuality is a fools errand because the words have become meaningless)

1. Interesting that they're not offering to donate yarn to the knitters.

2. THE PEOPLE NEED LEGIT FUNDING, NOT YOUR SHITTY FUCKING RAVELRY PROJECTS.

Maybe they are trying to get people bying their shitty yarn? If they were smart, they could make somekind charity knit along or sell yarn with pattern included.

Agreed. At the bare minimum, they could have offered a discount on Tranch yarn for it. At least legitimize the grift a tiny bit.

Of course, they're not smart people.

Truly bleak shit.
I think there was *some* buy in - at one point they were claiming that the Rez had requested specific items and they’d tailored the Amazon wish list to suit.

But yeah, they weren’t invited in, no smiles and thankyous, just one completely disinterested dude supervising them. That’s not going to go down well with the audience, it will be interesting to see what happens with the generosity of donors going forward.

So in the end, this wasn’t about money laundering or drug running or anything exciting like that. It’s Penny trying to get into the business of being a professional charity on other peoples behalf. He’s had a taste of the money that’s out there if the cause is just right, and he wants to expand the reach of rhe Tranch and build up their reputation as do-gooders, not just as a simple charity case themselves..
Better reputation = more income for them and as long as the money passes through their hands, and some necessary expenses can be taken off the top for gas and admin and the like - heck, even wages and pension packages and boardrooms eventually like the big players? A guy can dream.

But that was a rocky start. That burned, the lack of gratitude. The hostility in that fella’s eyes, the embarrassment. Made a loss on this one too, just to keep everything looking clean.
It’s a quiet drive back across the wintery plains. They’re all tired, Penny driving most of it. Time for reflection. How to keep up appearances and pretend that everything went great. But Kevin’s grating voice keeps piping up from the backseat. He won’t stop talking about transformers, and his bolt-on breast ambitions. No grasp of the situation at all, he’s only pissed off that he didn’t get what he wanted for breakfast, and that the cell service has been lousy the whole way.
Penny slips the automatic pistol from the door pocket into his coat. The weight is comforting. At the next rest stop he’ll do it, maybe.
So hold up, the Lakotas DIDN'T know the tranches were coming? Am I to understand that they weren't officially invited and just showed up? This is gross.

The call for knitters just shows how utterly disconnected they are from their target audience for their gnarly ass yarn.

It costs far more in time and money to make a knitted item than it is to purchase one already made. It is a completely ineffective way of helping people (but I'd expect nothing less).

Typically charity knitting is aimed more at bespoke shit. For instance, some people knit breast prosthetics for women who have had mastectomies for breast cancer: https://www.knittedknockers.org/

Only a matter of time before troons get in on that. Surprised they've not started a grifting as a knitty titty committee to shill their scratchy ass yarn for troons who can't get bolt ons.

The mountain of clothes is from some other year.
There was no infrastructure to manage and store the donations in the pic so they were piled up outside to rot.
So now it is next year and once again the kids need coats for winter.
Wash rinse repeat.

A lot of clothing donations are aspirational donations, meaning that the clothing is worn out, stained, or damaged. The person donating it thinks "Oh, someone can just fix this tear, patch this hole, sew on this button, good as new!" when they donate the clothing, imagining that the industrious poor person will spend a ton of time fixing each and every article of clothing before wearing it. For some vintage or high end items, repair is acceptable. For most of these low quality fast fashion items going into donate bins, it makes the item unwearable.

Now imagine that a dump truck of this damaged/threadbare/worn out/low quality clothing all shows up at once. It is completely overwhelming to people to get all of these items that all need personal attention and some amount of skilled labor to fix. Plus, people like looking nice! People want clothing that fits, items that are in good condition, that are comfortable, practical, and stylish. So many of these donated items just end up going into the trash.

People like donating items because it makes them feel good without thinking about the quality and lifespan of the item that they're giving away. A like-new item that someone thought they would wear or use and didn't? That's perfect to donate. An old favorite sweater that has been loved to death? A blouse missing 4 buttons? A child size coat permanently stained with spaghetti sauce? A shirt that turned into fabric pills after a single wash? People donate those kinds of things because they feel guilty about throwing them away. I'm willing to bet that the mountain of items in the photo was all stuff that was not suitable to donate in the first place.

The fact that they showed up visibly armed to a charity handoff, within city limits, might have something to do with the chilly reception. Looks like a Ruger or FN 5.7

And it's hard to take any man seriously when they have this much autism on their belt(s); at least Penny had his gear stuffed under that purple jacket.

You know what women do when they have to carry a bunch of shit? They use a purse, not a tactical belt. It's almost as if they aren't women...

Good morning! Today I have a few tweets to share.

Gotcha (and QC as well). In all fairness they have just posted a couple of pics of rez children wearing new outdoor coats with the tags still on, so it does seem like their approach has had some benefit and appreciation, compared to whatever well intentioned bad ideas resulted in that garment trash pile.

Still not sure about the “pls knit things” call though. That seems more like a way of spreading tranch GFMs into wider circles, especially retired-middle-class-women-with-money circles.

They are going to pack their truck with wood and drive it Pine Ridge? This sounds dumb and inefficient. Who are they working with up there?
It's a way to keep the grift going. The Lakota guy said that he drives to Colorado at least once a month anyway, so he can just pick up the donations rather than Penny driving up to the reservation at the end of each month to drop off the donations (which was Penny's plan).

This was the most awkward part of the video - it was obvious that Penny was trying to use donating to the reservation as PR spin, and it was obvious that the Lakota guy didn't want the weird tranchers on the reservation but wouldn't say no to free shit, and it was obvious that both parties knew. Penny sort of goes "yeah, or we can drop it off, or work with you however you want on this" because he couldn't say "We need to grift by travelling up to the reservation, and you collecting the donations means we can't film it and then e-beg claiming we need the gas money".

But if he's packing an entire truck with firewood? Well even if the Lakota guy is picking up the donations they'll still "have to" drive to Pine Ridge, perhaps even more frequently because the amount of firewood they'd be able to bring wouldn't last very long. Plus more grifting opportunities - "We have all this firewood but no petrol money, and the reservation has run out. Please go on our KoFi and GoFundMe if you don't want the Lakotas to freeze to death".

Does the Tranch have a wood stove? That'd explain this latest grift.

They have a fireplace.

The tranchers would be doing more "mutual aid" by paying a local energy company to deliver fueloil to run an oil furnace whatever it'll cost them in gas to inefficiently haul firewood from Colorado. (If they were trying to help instead of perpetuate grift and tax-deducting visits to the parents, of course).
